Portland Swap Meet Pics

I was only able to attend one of the two Portland swap meets this week (PIR), thought I'd share some of the stuff I saw. Good number of vendors this year, and the prices seemed high to me. Always fun to attend in any case, even though Portland never fails to deliver some rain to the event.

Here's some more. That 70 Blazer above priced at $8000 was fairly rust free as far as Blazers go.

Thanks for sharing. Always like swap meet/junkyard pics. That blazer may have been a fair deal. (without seeing it in person)

Re: Portland Swap Meet Pics

That's a great swap meet. good trucks of various years and plenty good parts. Too bad you couldn't catch the other one.

And too bad you posted in the 67-72 board rather then here in General Discussion. Had you visited GD you might have seen the thread for swap meets this season I started for all to share their experiences in. If it's alright, I'd like to take a sampling of pictures from here and post them to that thread to help it along and to encourage others to post there. Or you can if you want.

$4,950 if I recall correctly. I thought it was one of the most reasonably priced trucks out there.

Yeah I think that was what was on that truck. I went to the track on Friday and then Expo on Saturday. That 68 with the LS was not bad either. The green 69/70 short box was a cut down truck. Only rust I could find on it was the typical battery rot in the fender.

The expo was really down this year, alot of vendors from Cali got stuck at the pass as I5 was shut down. Trucks up there were way overpriced in my mind. Was not looking for anything for my C10, did come home with some new running boards for my 33 Ford pickup.

Re: Portland Swap Meet Pics

Ive been to that swap meet a couple of times. I know this sounds weird, but its just too big ... weird I know.

I like the Monroe swap meet or even a couple they have down in Puyallup, more manageable.

IIRC, they were asking something like $1800 for it.

Re: Portland Swap Meet Pics

Parking and transportation to and from are always an issue. Most end up parking in the grass a mile away. Then taking the buss to the meet.
If you purchase big items there is a holding area where they give you a ticket and you can drive around for pickup. Getting around is a hassle. So much stuff online I believe attendance may be going down. But still the largest swap around these parts and always interesting.
One year I purchased some NOS parts at the PSMeet and the guy offered me $100 off it I didn't want the boxes. Their was only one reason to keep the boxes. I turned him down.
Cheers

yeah parking has become a problem. It was nice to park at the horse track as it was at least paved. Those fields between the track and expo always become a mess. I rode the light rail on Friday all the way in from Hillsboro. I will never do that again. That is not a safe thing to ride anymore through Portland. On Saturday I drove to basically Kenton area and hopped the light rail for the 2 stops to get to the expo. The rain this year made those fields a mess for even a decent 4x4.

Re: Portland Swap Meet Pics

I parked my truck ( 2006 RED CHEVY) down the road and thought it was a good place not to far to walk ,, then I heard on the loud speaker that if all who parked on this road side did not go and move them ,,they would be towed .. so I moved to the field where they had a bus going back and forth and it was quite a ways and not any way to tote what you buy riding this bus ..

.figured if I ever go back it would be better to just get me a spot to swap or sell as they let you take your truck in with a load and keep it with you ,

,WHY do they not make it later in the year and avoid Rain and MUD ??

I couldn't make it this year, but typically my wife drops me off in easy walking distance as we live 7 exits up the freeway.
