Drug home a 67-72 2x4x4 crossbreed.

Actually found one close to home! Sometimes you have to question things... It does have a few parts yet, but not much. And yes there are 15 springs in the back!

2 wheel drive transmission? Looks like some good parts there though for sure.

Good find... But you better hurry and harvest those good parts before the rust worms beat you to them...

Just lock the hubs in and you'll have... front wheels locked in

Yep, 2wd truck. I don't think it was ever intended to be a 4x4.

I don't even see a yoke on the front diff.
I was a little excited when the guy called and said he had a 4x4 with a plow on it. He also said it looks like a 350 engine in it. (8-350 on the fender) Looks like a late model 305 is my guess. Last plates were 99

Re: Drug home a 67-72 2x4x4 crossbreed.

My guess is it was a 4x4 po blew tranny tcase combo installed a 2x4 tranny

Many k20 trucks have a baseplate yoke design that the ujoint goes into a baseplate which gets bolted to the flat yolk on the front diff

You can look at front spring mounts to see if there factory rivited or bolted on

Laatly check your vin whether its a c code or k code truck

I'm guessing the pad in front of the pass head is a short one (1-1/4" wide vs early ones being around 3" wide)?

As far as I know the best way to tell a later 305 from a 350 is to look behind driver side head on block. 5.7 or 5.0 in fairly large print.

Congrats! again

No SPID? Painted over with white paint? I see the clutch pedal is not painted white like the brake pedal and parking brake. Hmmm...

Another interesting find! I don't recognize the bench seat left in the back, must be for a Ford! Lol

Correct, small ID pad. And plenty of vacuum lines like the late 70s-early 80s had.

Good eye. I am not sure why the auto was swapped out and the 3 speed added. The spid has a ton of paint on it and a knife wont even touch it. You can see the thick paint around the VIN i scraped off.

Jim
I pulled the truck out of an abandon homestead. I told the wife she could take the 2 old benches if she unloaded all the rocks and cement that was in the bed of the truck... She really wanted the benches...
