Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

red primer under, then grey. Then use a steel wool pad to rub through the grey in spots. gives a real great patina aged look. If you mess up, easy fix.

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

Was digging around a little and found this old thread. I don't think I even had Tanya yet when this was last posted in. I know, digging up old threads, I know......but Tanya is in primer, even if it is a quickie pattle can job done by the P.O. (along with the ultra ugly wheels). Here she is just a week or two ago.

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

2k grey primer. It will "last"- that is look nice before chalking up about a year, then decline to ugly over the next year and need of a new coat...
I think I will 2k black primer it soon.

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

This is the way I got it. Blue primer with a "dusting" of black. I don't do body work, but I'm assuming that has a purpose. I'm planning on putting all of the trim back on, as paint will be the last thing I do to it.

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

mine in DP90, currently being re-done. Since this photo, lowered front and rear with front discs, power brakes, underbed gas tank, and big window conversion. Gonna paint it satin black with a white top.

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

My buddy Chivo painted this truck with Sikkens Ralley black single stage paint back when we used to work there. Its real durable and fairly easy to spray. Please excuse the fact this is a Ford...

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

I know it is not a truck but we did my so Pontiac Lemans last summer in this satin scheme and it looks mean..It is a spray can job..he is still in high school and we were on a dirt cheap budget and it is easy to touch up.

My 15yr old son has been handling it because I've been laid-up alittle.

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

BTW, we'll go back and fix needed bodywork once truck is one color and in driver status.
This is just a excercise of "****ss n Giggles" paint job.

I originally painted the truck in gloss black lacquer (which chips easily) nearly 15 years ago. It was my daily driver for a 72 mile commute for 9 years and we lived on a rock road, so the paint really took a beating. Due to the number of chips, and since I didn’t want to disassemble the truck to strip all the lacquer I just feather edged everything and then surfaced the bad areas with U-Pol primer (applied with a roller). I also removed all the seam sealer on the roof and resealed it with self-leveling Evercoat Maxim.

I bought two gallons of paint (just in case) and used about 5 quarts to paint the exterior. I didn’t paint inside the bed. It was either $30 a gallon or $50 a gallon. I don’t remember for sure and lost my receipts in a computer crash back in August. With all that, some thinner, Rage body filler, and sand paper I probably had another $100-$150 dollars invested when it was all done. So it cost somewhere a little over $200 for the whole job.
Just ran across this post while searching the forums.
My thinking is the same; I don't want it so pretty that I have to worry about every little chip.
