Gonna be Fuel in my Hair

It’s time to replace these 40yr old hoses. Is there a clever way to do this without spilling fuel on my face?

Not that I have found. Some benefit to raising the rear end so you have extra room to be off to the side a bit. A few layers of 2x6 can do the trick. Even if it doesn't leak when you first loosen the clamps, it will often drain gas the moment you lower one end of a hose.

I have a set of these hose cutters...you can reach way out and cut the hose between the clamps and let it drain out...

needle nose vise grips clamped on the feed line will help. take your clamp loose, then take some pliers and twist them sideways to break the connection, spray a little pb blaster in the edge and they'll usually pop right off. can also cut the hose lengthwise with a razor blade but be careful on the plastic nipples.
