Re: I saw this for Sale WTH?

I don’t that that’s an unrealistic price at all. Truck looks really clean, and has full trim, A ZZ502 is a $10K crate engine by itself, plus a built TH400 to handle it. Add in the lift, wheels, tires, etc.

It's too tall to haul firewood in so I guess I'll pass …

$43K trucks shouldn't come with bedliner applied over dents. Then again, neither should $10K trucks.

Or cheap seat covers, ratty, dirty t-case shift boot and worn out shift knob. I see lots of imperfections in the interior.

I’m with you, I see a lot of imperfections on the interior also. $25-30K would be pushing it. But $43, wow!

I just had to wonder, was Ford really that far behind the ball during this period? Did they basically copy Chevy's design when they brought out the new 73 trucks? And then Chevrolet leap-frogged them when they introduced their own 73?

Does anyone have first-hand experience with Fords and Chevy's over the 72-73 change-over, who could give their thoughts on this?

I don't think that's rust. It looks more like a spray-on seam sealer to me. Not as good looking as a factory applied seam sealer, but I'm sure it works.

Exactly. For 44k we shouldn’t even be having the discussion. If they were going for an authentic restoration it should have been applied on top of the paint.

Re: I saw this for Sale WTH?

I don't know if that's a good price or not. I do know Park Place motors cater to very high end people. Their used car show room is full of exotic sports cars and very collectible older vehicles.

They are also Rolls Royce, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin factory dealers (probably other ultra high end stuff as well).

This probably all weighs in on how they price stuff. Plus the fact they are in the heart of Microsoft country and other high tech businesses that have a lot of money floating around.

I drove past their places every day for probably 30 years.

Re: I saw this for Sale WTH?

This ^

Their clientele doesn't need to "shop around". I used to procure a "hole in one" car from them yearly for my former employer's charity golf tournament. Great guys that had already made their money and started the business, more or less, as a hobby. Gave a me car in the 50k range in 1998 dollars after hearing my ask and taking a photocopy of my license. Parked it by the T on the shortest hole on the course but never won it, ha. Had fun driving it down the cart path and kept it overnight. Always took a look around when I visited and once they gave me a nice walkaround on a Ferrari that was $450,000 at the time. Parked my Trans Am (heh heh heh) in their lot for a couple days while I was spiriting around a Porsche or classic Corvette. Good guys that have probably handed-off or sold the business -- I haven't been there in years. Them listing it at 25% over selling value is probably about right, but I'm not at all sure that I want our rigs to get that kind of attention. As previously mentioned, it's the land of Lambos. We frequently see, or more often hear, the clowns that are not enthusiasts but want attention. What better way to get attention than by driving something that would easily drive over a Lambo?

Re: I saw this for Sale WTH?

It's crazy what everything is bringing nowadays. I paid what I thought was a somewhat high price for my 87 SWB, but it was exactly what I wanted - low miles, original paint, everything worked and I could just jump in it and drive it. After looking at what some of this stuff is going for, I think I might have stolen it...., .

Hart_Rod, my grandfather had the same truck in GMC Sierra trim, bought new in 1986 (at factory height as well). Yours looks just as good as I recall his being.
