wiper shaft cowl grommet?
Is there supposed to be a grommet or seal around the wiper shafts where they go through the cowl? There is a small notch on the hole that doesn't appear to do anything making me think there should be something in there. The truck is a 1967 C10.

Yeah that is the notch. Wonder why Chevy put that on the cowl and then didn't use it for anything, My guess is they cost reduced something before production.

The notch in my opinion is to let water drain out of the recessed area there. If you ever have done a repaint on one you will see why.
