Re: And so it begins................

Ok, my project is going to be on hold for a little while. I've got too many things to deal with right now and I shelled the gears in the outdrive for my boat Saturday.

Speaking of, if anyone knows where I can grab a mercruiser alpha1 v8 outdrive for cheap holler at me.

Re: And so it begins................

I don't know man, the cirumstances behind the failure on mine are a little sketchy and I'm kinda ticked about it but I'm stuck because I didn't open my mouth when I should have so now I'm just looking to find the cheapest possible way to fix it myself and move on. I've never even changed one out so I'm not sure I can do it. The boat is too old to spend much money on anything and I don't know values. Is it a pre 91 alpha1 unit? I think after 91 they went to the generation 2 units that won't interchange with mine. I also need a v8 unit with the 1.5 gears.

Re: And so it begins................

lol, well I'm pulling trim off now to get busy with some body work before it gets too cold outside.

Someone will eventually feel sorry for me and let me shoot the paint in their garage!!!

Yeah, prob not

I wish my engine was already fixed up like yours though!!!!

Re: And so it begins................

Since I've done the wheels/tires, exhaust, engine tune, tint, and almost complete new interior, I have found myself unable to park the truck long enough to do any other repairs or body work and since I primered the hood, I don't see anything from the driver's seat that motivates me to do anything else!!!

So now what? I have to blow a head gasket or something to force me to park it and continue?

The truck is just plain fun to drive. It's no wonder I see so many of them running around unfinished!! Look at Nuke's truck for pete's sake. He'll never get it painted now!!!!!!

Haha. That's great. That's what it's all about. Work on it and drive it. Enjoy it! Then work on it some more and drive it. As long as you are happy with it, who cares what it looks like or what is complete or not. Keep it up!

that is the best part of owning one is driving it and enjoying it. When you get tired of something you will tear it apart, we have no doubts about that.

I'm still trying to sell the short step.

I'm actually going out to SC to pick up my parts in two weeks. Hopefully start on it some while I am out there. I have a frame, cab and bed that I am gonna use that is there. I have all the 67 front end parts here.

I'm gonna build a short fleet.
