Transmission Rebuild

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a quality transmission rebuild kit for a th350 in my 4x4. Also, since its in a 3/4 ton that will see tow and off road action, are there any modifications I should research more to increase reliability or strength? I think the bigger roller clutch out of a 4l60 was a good idea that I've read about a lot. Otherwise I was just thinking building stock, but not if there are some other simple things I can while I'm at it.

Re: Transmission Rebuild

you sure its a th350 in a 3/4 ton ?

th350 pan = square with 1 corner 45* cutoff .
th400 pan = shape of texas .

most 3/4 tons had th400 in them . but someone could have swapped it in there in the past or your doing it .

as to a good bang for the buck kit look at transtar and a sk400 shift imporver kit . the kit fixes known problems but dosnt give it hard bang shifts .

some good upgrades are out there . if th350 look at the solid block to replace the clunk spring .

also you can swap some pistions or drums ? not sure my self . . . these will give you the option for the most clutches in them . as not all from the factory were set up this way .

Re: Transmission Rebuild

Yes it's definatly a th350. It must have been swapped at one point since my spid also has the code for a th400. Anyway thanks for the sugeustions. I decided to rebuild myself after the shop I talked to said they don't do th350s anymore. Said they can't compete with Summit off the shelf Trannys, since there is a summit store in Sparks.

If you want to increase the reliability of your th350, replace it with a 400 and build that. either one will have a few books out there on rebuilding them. Ron Sessions is the author on several of them and are at least worth reading so you know what your talking about when you talk to the tranny dudes. Ever think of supporting a local vo tech school by asking them to do it. Thats how I learn and teach .
