I’m new to the site still learning where to post pics and info for a new thread, so please bear with me if I’m in the wrong area.
The truck is a 1952 Chevrolet my father purchased for me when I turned 16. Originally we went to a farmer’s house to look at a 1970 Chevelle he had for sale. While they were talking I went snooping around and found the project of a life time. I had never seen such a cool truck as the one that was buried under a pile of hay. Needless to say I passed up the $3500 car for a $500 truck. I drove the truck for about three years then tore it all apart and never got around to putting it back together, well the day has come for me to reassemble the truck and it will see the road once again but with an attitude this time.

Just finished with the passenger side door, it was rusted badly along the front edge, and the rear edge was banged up. I also had to replace the inner door bottom.

Re: Z52

Here’s a couple picture of what I’ve done with the cab. I dint like the stock cab mounts so I made my own. The back ones are 3” tubing and the front ones I made to fit the sub frame.

Re: Z52

Welcome from So Arizona!
Looks like you have enough steel in the rear suspension, are you adding a lot of H.P.?

Re: Z52

Yep got steel!!! Well I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it this way, I’ve been thinking about using Johnny joints for the parallel rod ends. The plan for HP, is a super charged LT1.

Re: Z52

Nice start and a SC LT1 will be killer. Hadn't been able to test the power of my LT1 after finding that my intake manifold is leaking in the rear. But, when I did get on it .....WOW so with the SC it will be mean.

I had a ex-girlfriend who moved to Peru back in 1988-89, one I wished I hadn't let get away. When I hear or see Peru, Indiana I always think of her.

Re: Z52

Been working on the doors, both bottoms were rusted out. Boy it seems like every time these doors are test fit a different area along the door gap changes. One small change affects 10 different spots along the door edge gap.
Ran into a big surprise on the driver’s side door, the front edge had a big rust hole full of putty and the back edge was full of lead.

Re: Z52

Got the frame notched for the cross member, and located in the frame. I then read some where how the spindles were cracking around the welds on some cross members. So I decided to make mine a little stronger by adding extra support on both sides of the a arm spindles front and rear.

Re: Z52

bitbitn, looks great. Welding the nuts on the inside works great if you are boxing the frame. That is what I did on the one I am working on. I did not hear anything about the crossmembers cracking. The 2 I have have gussets in the corners where the bosses come out. One thing I did do was bend tubing to go from the crossmember to the radiator crossmember due to the big cut out for the rack. It was not strong at all so that is what I came up with. Keep up the great work.

Re: Z52

Thanks, and I don't remember where I had seen the article about the a-arm
Spindle cracking. It wasn't the cross member brand I bought, but similar. They actually cut out the spindle and replaced it with a solid one that goes all the way through the member.
