Project figure it out as I go!

Quick background on me I've always built played with 4wd, jeeps tube buggies etc.. and always wanted to do a rat rod type vehicle. Well I stumbled across this 49 that a guy started putting on a 72 frame that he shortened up to get the wheel base right. I scored a rebuilt 350 from a buddy and ordered some blingyier parts for it. Got a 700r4 for the trans. The frame is stock height and the body is channeled over the frame to get the lowered look. Anyways heres some pics of where I am now and what I'm getting my self into

Home in the garage

Engine set in place..not sure why it was painted ferd blue

Dart heads

Cam

Interior or the lack of

started fitting the new sheetmetal

Hopefully have some more updates soon. But this should be a fun build different from what Im used to. This was my last creation..

Looks like you're off to a good start. From what I can see in the photos, it's a nice lookin' truck. Good luck with your build.

Re: Project figure it out as I go!

should be fun. early sbc were red, then chvy orange. in 77 they changed to blue so they could be used in any GM vehicle. Later they were changed to black. I also found a web site that said the change to blue and black was to hide oil leaks and reduce warranty claims, but think the author was being a smartty.

Yup it had a 5.3,sm465,np205 and front and rear steer 2.5ton rockwell axles. Never really used it in the mud much, mostly rock crawling/trail riding Had a lot of fun with it!!!

Re: Project figure it out as I go!

Got the transmission put in with the centerforce dual friction clutch, also got started on the trans crossmember.

Some parts I scored from a local swapmeet. Lincoln mark viii elec. fan, some hushpower pro series mufflers and a big ol intake.
