66 gmc c10 clutch mechanical clutch linkage

Hello,

I was looking at the mechanical clutch linkage underneath my truck today. It appears all stock. The linkage connects to my frame on one side, and right to my engine on the other side. It seems like the engine vibrations would wear this pivot point out.

Is it common and acceptable to leave the linkage this way, attached to the engine block? I'm wondering if I do an engine swap if the new block will have provisions to hook the mechanical linkage to as well.

I was thinking I could probably make a bracket off of the frame to support the other side of the linkage instead of having it hook to the engine. Only if it is necessary, though.

Thanks,

Dan

Daniel , the linkage is fine as it is . Anything can wear out over time . If your linkage is worn , you can get replacement pieces at a very reasonable cost . I got a few needed items for my ' 65 from LMC trucks . There are many vendors that have these items . Go to their websites and check it out .Good Luck !

Re: 66 gmc c10 clutch mechanical clutch linkage

I'm glad to hear the linkages are somewhat common.

Would a newer small block or big block have provisions on the block to hook the mechanical linkage to? Or was this strictly an older style?

I know eventually they went to hydraulic linkages. I'm wondering if they ever made a mechanical linkage that didn't attach to the engine.

Thanks,

Dan
