Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

That interior is SWWWWEEEEETTTT!!!!!!! Is that the dash cover stich is making if so could I (we) get a better picture of it?

As for the brakes is it just the rears you are havng air issues with or the fronts too? I am wondering about the proprtioning valve myself, also did you have the rear load sensing valve still installed or is it gone. I had a really soft pedal and couldnt bleed my rear brakes and that valve was bad.

Looks good, and have you been missing the snow or have you got some.

I need to get to work on my truck too, but I cant get motivated... maybe next weekend

I guess it is! That was the speedo that was with the truck when I bought it. You are right though, if it was the factory one it would be an 85MPH unit. Thanks bud!

Yeah who knows on the brakes. What I do know is that I am out of time. We have snow in the forecast all week this week. I was planning on taking the truck to the local shop to have them make me up a nice dual exhaust system Monday. I guess I will have them look at the brakes too and see what is up. Oh, and I do not have the rear load sensing proportioning valve installed anymore - just the one up front and it was working great before I started this whole fun journey.

Yes, that is my "Stitch made" interior. He did the seat, the door panels, and the dash. I'll post up some pics after my Monday jaunt to the muffler shop.

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

Loaded the truck up on the trailer for a trip to the muffler/brake shop tomorrow. I decided this was a good time to snap some undercarriage pics. Also the power steering pump developed a leak. (see red fluid drips in snow).

Thanks Dan. Glad to hear you got your plow going. We got about a foot of snow since noon yesterday.

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

Well I just got into an argument with the guy at the exhaust shop. When I dropped it off this morning he said he can't make it a priority because it's all going to be custom bent pipe and he's got a ton of cars to do still, but that he could get it done in a couple of days. I called back this afternoon to ask if they had any idea of pricing, and he got a little confrontational and said that I should have asked for a price when I was there. I told him I didn't ask at that point since he was loaded with customers and his phone was ringing off the hook. But unfortunately he can't get it done in a couple days. Now I would be lucky to get it back by Saturday. What a dork. Fortunately my neighbor has nicely agreed to plow me out this week.

Jeez great customer service eh? I wish my clients wouldn't ask for a price before I do work for them... Major inconvenience.

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

Yeah I've gone there twice in the past 15 years. (not a regular obviously). And they were a bit gruff both times, but this, by far, was the least pleasant experience. And - the good news is - it's only started!

Hopefully they do killer work!

As a side note I am shocked at the lack of options for a direct-fit full dual exhaust (factory style) system for my truck. NAPA wouldn't even sell it. They called it a "Dealer only item". I'm too chicken to buy one off JEGS or something. Too much of a pain to deal with return shipping if it's wrong and no local throat to choke.

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

78 straight hours of non-stop snow! It's supposed to finally break on Thursday morning. We will probably have about 3 feet by the time it's all done. Then- Big Nor'Easter coming on this way on Sunday that might hit us!

Hopefully I'll have Cletus back from the Muffler/Brake shop on Saturday to battle this next round of snow!

Anyone want a snow pic? Notice the height of this snow mountain that the snow removing equipment had to pile up in comparison to the roof line of the drug store behind it!
