71 and 72 cab differences?

Just talking the bare cab, not the doors. Is the only difference between a 71 cab and a 72 cab the pad where the mirror mounts on 71 since the 72 mounts on the window?

Re: 71 and 72 cab differences?

Some early 71’s don’t have the vent. My 9/70 Fremont built 71 K/20 doesn’t have the vent. It also doesn’t have the raised spit for the rear view mirror. It also has 70 carpet with two perfect holes punched out for the floor studs for the gas pedal.

Re: 71 and 72 cab differences?

Yep, just the difference in mirrors. Except... And Joe laid that out. The door jamb vent began in '71 but some early examples slipped through before that happened. A very very very minor detail is the '72 cab could have the holes for the auxiliary fuel tank valve lever, if it had that option, and the hole in the dash for the gauge switch

Re: 71 and 72 cab differences?

My 72 cab (St Louis built) has a date stamp on the passenger side right behind where the wheel well is. I guess you would call that the exterior portion of the passenger toe board. Not a functional difference, but would be important to a concourse build since it is visible after the truck is fully assembled - should you choose to lay down under the truck and look for it.
