Unhappy Did I ruin my regulator?

I have a Hobart 140 MIG welder that came with a dual-gauge regulator for the gas bottle. I was really tired when I shut the rig down, and instead of turning off my gas valve, I cranked down the regulator. Now the outflow gauge doesn't read correctly. Is there some way to reset it, or did I ruin it?

Re: Did I ruin my regulator?

You may have wrapped the gauge...I'd try a new gauge 1st...but you may have damaged the diaphram in the reg..meaning you'll need a new one..but I'd try a new gauge

Re: Did I ruin my regulator?

It may have already been failing. My guess is the seat was leaking (creeping) and when it was left on it crept up past the gauge max so the gauge tube is now ballooned. You can replace the gauge but the seat will still be leaking as before.

Re: Did I ruin my regulator?

Thanks for your responses. I can regulate the flow of gas with it, but the gauge doesn't read the correct flow, so I'm judging by the sound and weld bead/spatter. I might just replace it with a flow gauge.
