Ignition cylinder

My ignition cylinder engages but won’t turn. I thought that I had the wrong key, so I bought a new set from Classic Industries. Same thing. I can turn the switch with a screwdriver and it functions properly. This is all with no power to the switch. I also have tried lubricating the cylinder. Any ideas?

Re: Ignition cylinder

If the switch works with a screwdriver - that should limit the places to check.

I pulled a picture of the dash components from the LMC site.

check to see if the ignition housing (part 19) if fully screwed into the ignition switch (part 15). Once those parts are fully seated and tight, the ignition cylinder (with the key in it) should seat all the way into the housing and seat into the switch.

the fact that you can start the truck with a screwdriver leads me to believe that the ignition cylinder isn't fully seated into the housing/switch.

What happens when you turn the ignition cylinder with the key - does it spin completely around?

Re: Ignition cylinder

I have the switch on the bench. I tried to post photos, but I wasn't allowed to. When the cylinder is in, it doesn't move at all.
