Re: header question

What I did was use the shorty headers from an 89 corvette and cut off and weld the smog tubes closed, then had the left header angle milled to half flange thickness, and then they tucked in and fit just fine. Originally I hunted and hunted for a set of headers that would fit without hammering them, and that's what I came up with.
They don't look great in the pic, but what I did was paint them with "barbeque black" paint after all the fitting and milling and welding. Look patina'd after a while.
I have another set.....I bought two sets in case I had to do the left one over again, but it came out ok the first time.
the big problem with long headers is the transmission or clutch linkage clearance.
Cyclone used to make headers for the TF trucks, but they were the ones that needed less hammering.

Check out my build thread called "my 57 revitalized" I discuss the header issue I had. Maybe some day I will get them coated.
Yea they don't look fantastic, but they clear, are a factory setup, no leaks, no cracks, clear the angle plugs, work on my aluminum heads, and quiet.

Sorry, the link doesn't work, Don't know how to delete it.

Re: header question

any shorty blockhugger style will fit
as for long tube headers; we all have different builds and frame mods
motor height and angle, trans, brake booster, starter and x-members can be different
any long tube header that fits my truck may not fit your truck

headman shortys on truk
