1967 GMC Spicer and 4x4 Decal Locations

There are 2 67 GMC K1500's here. The fremont built one has the Spicer sticker on the glovebox door and 4x4 pattern on the roof while the Pontiac built one has both it on the visor. Here is the evidence. Jmader and I are curious what other 67 GMC owners have for locations.

Re: 1967 GMC Spicer and 4x4 Decal Locations

Well my 67 k1500 SWB is a Fremont truck. It has nothing in the glovebox or on the outer glovebox door. Here is a photo. I notice that your 1ST photo lists a "power-loc diff. and dana hub locks. my photo shows Warn hub info label. I'm curious to know if some of the trucks came with Warn hubs? If you look at my photo close the info label is under the visor hook.

Re: 1967 GMC Spicer and 4x4 Decal Locations

These are interesting thanks for starting the thread Jud. Mine only had the sticker above the rear view mirror and nothing on the glove box.

I’m pretty sure the 67’s all came with spicer locking hubs

Arctic man, thanks for adding pics and info. Is the label just under the edge or is it secured by the visor hook? As far as I know, theres no literature suggesting the factory used Warn hubs.

Jeremy, where was your truck built originally?

Re: 1967 GMC Spicer and 4x4 Decal Locations

Vintage Windmills,
The Warn info label is just under the lip of the visor and could have been placed afterward. That said it would be difficult to peel the back of the label and place it under the edge. (not impossible). Just not practial. I guess it could have been done at the dealer. but why would the dealer change out factory lockers?

Re: 1967 GMC Spicer and 4x4 Decal Locations

arcticman, lockout hubs were an option in 67-72's. It was definitely the rarity not to have them as a factory installed option though. My ochre 71 K20 still had the factory driveplates on it when I bought it a few years ago. Needless to say the front axle and transfer case ouput were worn a bit.

Re: 1967 GMC Spicer and 4x4 Decal Locations

Ok, so more than likley they did not have lockouts and were just a close off cap? then maybe the dealer would have installed them or the owner. I dont think the owner would have installed the decal if he knew enough to install the warns.

Were the stickers installed in production or were they supplied with the other literature to be installed by dealer or owners? I know that was the case with at least some '69s. Any brand truck that came with Dana front axle (which was all) would have Spicer hubs as an option. Dana/Spicer, same company supplying hubs that supplied the axle.

I bet your passenger visor was added later on and that's why the sticker is underneath the clip.

That's an interesting question. I always just assumed they were installed at the factory but they very easily could be dealer installed since the locations are different from truck to truck.

That's what I've always assumed, because I've had trucks where the unused stickers are still in the pamphlet packet in the glovebox.

Re: 1967 GMC Spicer and 4x4 Decal Locations

Warn guy here, I just checked with a couple other old timers to make sure. The M-8 hubs on arcticmans truck were not a factory option. They would have been purchased as an aftermarket hub kit and either installed by the dealer or the owner. This is the first time I have seen a picture of an M-8 hub, its really cool to see the old style hubs with the real brass dials!

I'm looking for a set of M-7's for my K20...

And by the way, my '69 K20 built at Freemont has the 4x4 shift pattern sticker above the rearview mirror like the '67 GMC 1500 built at Freemont.
