my first square body

I'm new to the site and picked up my first square body recently. 1985 Silverado. It has the orig 305 and 350 trans with Edelbrock carb. It needed a brake overhaul and exhaust. It runs and stops good now. I have some rallys that im going to paint and replace these ugly wheels that came on the truck. More pics and info to come.

Re: my first square body

This truck was not on craigslist. I found it on the way to look at a 87 that was on craigslist. This is going to be a long term project for me as time and $ allows. I want the stock look with a 2.5-4 drop.

Love the white...BTW-If those bed rails are OEM, and you don't want them they are worth some cash...

What are the bed rails worth? Are they rare? Anyone want to buy some Ultra 15x8 aluminum wheels? lol

Very nice truck and looks like a really good start. I don't think of them as rare at all. Growing up it seems like every Chevy/GMC had them. I think what is rare is to still have a set on a truck from new. Somewhere there are tons of garages and backyards with these sitting in them. Once the new wore off these trucks people became much more careless with them and started securing loads to them that never should have been. Once they started getting loose they were pulled off and either thrown away or put in a corner somewhere. I have found several sets not on trucks. Kind of the same deal as new take off tailgates. They are removed, put somewhere and then the truck is sold. They are forgotten about until it is time to clean the garage or some one moves.

In the 70's my dad got a new fully loaded Chevy truck every year and he got bed rails on all of them. The first and only Ford truck he bought was in 83. Then he went back to Chevys. He had bought the Ford because it was a diesel and needed something for landscaping. If it hadn't been such a lemon I am sure he would have bought more Fords.

I remember those rear window screens! Seemed like all of the farmers had them! Haven't seen one in years! I remember lots of different scenes on them!
