Hey guys, I was adjusting my fast idle on my street avenger, and I went a little too high. It revved up really high and stalled completely. Now I can't get it started at all. I thogjt maybe it just flooded it's self but a couple hours later... Nothing still. Could I have screwed up the timing or what could I have done. It's my ride to work in the

Not knowing just how high it tached out, can only guess. First I'd check for spark. If you're getting an ok spark, I'd run a compression check on it. Could have bent some valves, (hope not) When it shut down, did it backfire or anything, or just die?

From there it gets into the engine parts.

I'd check for fuel first, is it squirting out the jets?

Ok, so I just rplaced the entire distributor! I needed a new one any way. Checked the spark and it's not super strong but it's there. Fuel is coming out of the jets(I pretty much flood it trying to get something to ignite). And still nothing. All the enginendoes is crank, I can't hear any ignition at all. It is TDC and the engine is mybe a month old and worked fine untill this little mishap, so I dont think it's any internal engine problem like bent valves. It didnt backfire when it quit, it just died.Whatshouldni do next?!?!? I'm at a loss over here, any of you experienced men have any ideas? Thanks again.

The main thing an engine needs to run, are spark, fuel, compression, and timing. As far as the engine being new. That means nothing when it comes to over reving. A new valve will bend just as fast as an old one. If it tached up enough to float the valve springs, and the valves can't get out of the way of the piston on the tdc. something will give. I still say check compression. when it turns over, does it turn extra fast, like with no plugs in it?

I think you might have made a mistake jumping into changing out the distributor, now it's a guessing game as to what the intial problem really was.

Go back to the beginning, fuel, spark, compression, timing...etc.
