12in hub cap modification

What is the best to open the 12 in hub cap up to clear the Dana 60 axle?

What do the correct ones look like? These seem smaller, even though they are 12in.

These are later design, not correct for 67, but I like the look.

Re: 12in hub cap modification

Back in the early seventies I changed wheels and the caps came with them. If you look inside the caps that you want to put over the hubs you will see a thin groove. I used an exacto blade to carefully cut out the groove. Have no idea why the groove was there. Mongo

That type of hubcap started in '76. But those open caps are for K30/K35, so no older than '77

Re: 12in hub cap modification

Interesting. I am the original owner and probably still have the sales receipt. What little is left of my mind that I can remember is late 70's to late 71.The original wheels (5) are still in my shop. The vehicle is a 1970 C/K 20. Love a good mystery. Mongo
