3/4 Chevy hubcaps NICE!!!

Set of 3/4 ton hubcaps that are very nice condition. With a minor amount of TLC, they could be show quality. All have great shine with no cracks. 2 caps have a very minor dent on each one. (see pics). $175 shipped.

Yep, all "outies". Looks like they were pulled off a low mile truck and stored. Sending PM...

Re: 3/4 Chevy hubcaps NICE!!!

I thought all the outies (69-72) were flash chromed brass with blue bowties, and all the innies (73-75) were brushed stainless with yellow bowties ?

Ha - I keep my eyes peeled for 3/4 ton caps... Hard to come by. I've been hodge podging sets together for a little while, nice to find a good 4 piecer.

That is a good question - I had the same question, but didn't care with this set. Outie is a plus - it's possible that they've been "outed" at some point (previous innies), but who knows.

It was also my understanding that 69-72 were chrome plated outies and 73-75 were stainless (not brushed though) innies. I have both at this time, and either looks great. I DO like to make sure I match all innies or all outies on a given truck though. Again, so hard to come by, especially outies (any year) that this was a great deal for me. Would love to know the history of these caps - if they are ALL original, then it appears they are 73+ because of the gold bowtie - but the outie question remains...

Re: 3/4 Chevy hubcaps NICE!!!

Great deal. Here's my theory: I am guessing that GM may have had a considerable quantity of 3/4 ton concurve (outies if you will) caps when they entered into production of '73 models. And it is possible that if that was the case, like any large buisiness, who wants to waste money, they merely painted them yellow. As the old stock was depleted, the newer 3/4 ton concave (innies) caps were then used. As far as the service parts for 69-72 3/4 tons once the '73-up production was in full bloom, they used what they had: concave caps and painted them blue.

Just a theory, but it seems to fit the trend of GM using different parts on the same year at the start of the production run.

Nevertheless, GREAT DEAL!
