Not runnin a CB anymore, but fixing to put one of these in my truck.

It is a Yaesu FT-991A, it can run HF, VHF and UHF, and it puts out 100 watts!

Is that a Ham rig? Don't you need a license?

So I’m dying to ask what kind of antenna THAT thing needs? Got a pic? I’ll show my ham stupidity here, but i didn’t even know there even was such a thing as a mobile ham. That’s cool.

IMHO the best route is a "screwdriver" antenna.

It is a tunable antenna that uses contacts on a motor driven coil to change the impedance of the antenna.

With that setup you can hit stations that are as far away from the west coast as Japan, Hawaii, Russia, it will really get out!
