Search is down..we should all pitch in for a bigger server or whatever...

Maybe we can all pitch in $10 each and get the equivalent of a twin turbo LS server..!!

Seriously, I'd pay more to use this site...best deal I've made since starting my project.!!

Yeah, I looked to see if I had paid my subscription. If the non supporting members would pitch in a little, I'm sure it would help. I know some can't afford to, but if you eat out six nights a week, go to the movies every weekend, wait in line to buy the latest iPhone, give up one of these things just once and you can pay for your subscription here.

I'm 63 years old, and thought I knew everything about these trucks until I found this site seven years ago. If you love these trucks, this resource is invaluable.

My two cents,
Larry

We could call it the LSX Twin Turbo Server Project membership and pay a little more to join this elite group

In a nutshell that is the biggest problem. Just look at the stats at the bottom of the page. Roughly "Guests" outnumber the members generally about 5:1 and of those "Members" about 1 in 4 is actually a subscriber. Thats 12.5 subscribers for 250 users.
*
*
Just now 282 active users, 232 guests and 50 members. Of that 50, 16 are subscribers.

Probably the most bang for the buck that I've spent on my truck is a subscription to this site.

How many members and how much traffic do those other sites have? I doubt as much as this site does.

A new server is in the works, unfortunately I've had an unrelated business deal in the works that has taken longer than I had planned due to the other party dragging their feet. It should be upgraded by the end of the month, just depends on how long it takes for the machine to be rolled out.

This site is also free. Subscribing is an option. We don't know how many subscribers are on here, therefore don't know what there's enough money for or not. It could be as simple as this site grows so fast it keeps outgrowing itself.

hdff, I don't think we're comparing apples to apples. Corvette-Forum is part of a huge network whose revenue steam is quite likely vast compared to this family run site. In my eyes it's like comparing Wal-Mart to a Mom & Pop store.

BTW - Corvette-Forum does have a paid subscription level.

was the new posts feature deleted?
I visit the board a couple times a day and it was handy to keep up with all the fantastic threads about peoples progress, it's be hard to do without the new posts button.

BTW, we support those who are paying members buy choosing to buy from them first. I look at it as indirect support because if not for buyers there wouldn't be many paying members.

Re: Search is down..we should all pitch in for a bigger server or whatever...

I don't mind paying the $25 per year as like others have said this forum has been very good to me through the years..

This is only a question ,, a curious question ,, Does the advertising at the top of the page cover a lot of the costs of running the site ..

They are also owned by a large company. Whom also own fit day, honda tech, bens bargains and countless other deals... No comparison from them to us. Its like comparing the resources of WalMart to a mom and pop store in town. Difference is, we have been asked many times and chose not to sell out to big companies. Sorry if that causes issues from time to time, but I would much prefer the site as it is, a big family... and not riddled with ads. If you look at the homepage I see 4 different ad placements. Not even bothering to look on the forums.

We could simply do the same and rake in serious cash too... probably should.

Re: Search is down..we should all pitch in for a bigger server or whatever...

Some of you guys have no clue. Its probably been 10yrs ago at this point but we contemplated putting ads in the forum to pay for everything. It was decided at that time that people would rather pay a subscription to keep this place non-commercial and ad free. The amount of info given away for FREE here is pretty much priceless. I come here to help.I don't need this forum to ask questions. Im in the business and grew up in and around it. There are quite a few others here who haven't so much as asked a question but contribute far beyond where they should be expected. Sitting here crying about a hiccup or two isn't helping anything. Most forums are full of people straight up harassing each other, people being belittled or made fun of etc. That BS doesn't happen here. There aren't search Nazi's complaining when someone asks a question for the 100th time. Someone just answers the question. I have been here a damn long time and feel like I at least helped build this place a little and I think it has grown into one of the best forums on the net. I have literally had people offer to send me money for help I gave. Im not here to get paid and neither is anyone else. I am simply paying it forward. I learned everything I know from people that were willing to help. I just happened to get lucky enough to be around some pretty smart guys. I honestly get pissed when people sit around and complain in posts like these. The internet barely existed when I joined this forum. You guys have NFC how lucky you are to be able to find any info you want instantly for FREE
