Bye bye Scrapper engine.

You're too heavy to launch for a raft anchor. Too cumbersome for a coffee table. Too much in the way. Too lame compared to the professionally rebuilt engine. Too worn out.

It was a lot of fun to have extricated you from the salvaged truck, discover you run, take you apart, and try to make you healthy. You taught me a lot. Ultimately you were too far gone and I had a better candidate for resurrection.

Thanks to of all you guys who have lent a hand when I needed one.

You are now ready for the scrap metal man to pick up.

May you rust in peace.

I stopped by the rebuilder to check the progress. Man! Those guys do nice work. The engine is reassembled now and will be ready any day. All the visible bolts are new (like the 24 holding the oil pan on), so it all looks very nice. They even put larger valves in it! Vrooooom vroooom!

I have no good pics of the ps bracket unless you want the uninstalled bracket itself.

Looks good, Ive got a 70 I6 that I'm thinking of keeping the 6'er and putting an auto behind it, seeing your rebuild thread makes me lean that way even more!! Nice job

Did the engine builder convert the connecting rods to full floating or leave them as a pressed pin .

Hello everyone, this engine is very nice. I live in Argentina and in my country it is common for 67-72 Chevy trucks have been equipped with 6 in line engine of 250 cubic inches, so that engine you are rebuilding is well known. I ask you, what is the RPM regime with which the engine 250 operates? The trucks were manufactured there, with that corona and pinion ratio differential were fitted at the factory? . Moreover, anyone known relations between gears of the gearbox? . Can I be exceed in the questions, but I rebuild the transmission of a truck with an engine 250, and it is important to know these parameters. Thank you for your attention, greetings from Patagonian Argentina, South America.

I am back to work on this project after a long absence when summertime cottage and motorcycle activities took priority. And nothing like getting laid off from work last week to help with spare time.

Recent accomplishments:

Removed the bench seat to make easier access to work under the dash. Its very hard to reach the inside rear bolts!

Removed the original steering wheel. Bought a refurbed original auto column. $325 in this neck of the woods.

Removed the pedal assembly and took the clutch pedal off. Cleaned everything up and shot it with black paint.

Removed the emergency brake cable and pedal assembly. It will get cleaned and repainted too.

Bought replacement grommets and heater gaskets. The heater box is off the firewall.

Prepared the firewall to paint. I'll just use a spray can in a closely matched white. Good enough and it will be a big improvement.

glad you are back to work on your project and sorry you got laid off. I recently started driving driving a 66 for a DD and it has the 250 in it and I am going to leave it in. I am curious as to what your rebuild cost mine should have one this year

Very nice. I like the attention to detail. I am detailing an original 60,000 mile 292 in my 64. I understand that the factory color was not Chevy orange but a green color that is close to Detroit Diesel green. Great job!!

Ive been searching for this for a long time I have a 69 GMC I6 3onTT SWB stepside, which Im planning of putting an auto TH350 in, and it runs a Singer Sewing Machine (and so my wife can drive it also) and was looking for info on this. keep doing what you do, I love them steppers......I am so subscribed to this.

and if anyone else following this and have more info, post them threads so it can be consolidated.

What is this external tube on my TH350?

What is the little metal tube coming out the side top of a TH350?
This trans is going behind the inline 6 into my truck.

That is a vent. Make sure it is not plugged up.
