It's a 28" tall tire and 10" wide. Nice part about drop spindles is it only drops the suspension and doesn't mess with the geometry of the drive train. But if you want it to lay running board. You will have to raise the trans cover. After I put my drop spindles in. I think I am going to put the stock bumps tops back in the control arms because I want my running boards an inch off the ground. So if I blow a bag or have an air leak it will still roll.

My buddy came over on saturday and welded the firewall in. Got solid in two hours. Not to bad.

Ground the welds ,started the bondo work and seam sealed the bottom

Painted the cab and the hood flat army green. I going the leave the fenders,grille, running boards and bumpers matte black

Finished the body work on the firewall and paint it satin black

Couldn't handle the chevy Orange on the motor and since I needed to paint the accessory brackets. I painted the block.

What about the holes on the front side for the hinges? Are you going to drill them later?

It's to bad I have to drill into the firewall for the hinges and inner fenders.But I left those areas from the old firewall to weld the new firewall to on the inside.So all I have all to do is run a drill through 10 holes from the inside of the cab.

how are you going to get the trans out after you blow it up?

I just ordered a classic performance crossmember 9424.Now I'm at a standstill till Friday. I can't believe I missed that.

I used the same one. Only the ends didn't drop down far enough for me, so i made new ends that dropped the trans another inch to give me less driveshaft angle. i can still get the engine mount bolts in and out easy since the motor mount has oval holes in it and there is no binding.

I also used a flat piece of 1/4"" steel 6 inches wide 16" long bent to make a U, and cut the crossmember to allow the exhaust pipes to go through the crossmember, not under it. Since I have a hydroboost under the truck off the original pedals, I chose to run the left pipe on the right side then back over the axle back to the left. Nobody can tell the left pipe doesn't run down the left side till you look under the hood and see the left pipe transitioning to the right side.
Since you are laying frame, I would guess that you need all the room you can get.

Besides, your feet stay cooler than the passenger's feet LoL

I kept breaking the left front motor mount when I tried to spin the tires. I ended up with a polyurethane left mount.
You feel the engine a little more, but the engine doesn't want to roll over to the right side of the truck.




FYI, 255/50/17 are 27 inches tall, and 11 inches wide.
They are the size listed for the 94-96 Impala SS.

Get the PROTHANE mount for your tranny too. they work great on that crossbar.

Wow the engine and trans mounts on those AD's are pretty high I guess.... Mine mounts to the bottom of the frame rails.

It sits pretty high where it mounts on both sides of the frame. The height makes it easy to run dual exhaust.I would have done the brackets underneath,but it would make the tranny sit to high.it's also not easy to drill into the frame up side down. it does have a 4 inch drop.so the transmission sit 1 inch above the bottom of the frame rails with the tailshaft angle at neg 5 degrees. By the way this is not the best crossmember for the S10 frame because it's too narrow. That why I used L brackets on the frame.
