72's built in 73

I had a guy this weekend tell me that they built some 72 body styles in 73. Is he right or maybe they were built in 72 and not registered until 73. All the info I can find states it was a total new design in 73

Re: 72's built in 73

The latest 72 I have ever seen was built in June of 72, so I would think nowhere even close to 1973.

Re: 72's built in 73

Did the medium duties all change in`73?maybe in Argentina or somewhere.
In light body trucks the`73s came out in a new body for sure and the old style was history.

Heck, we have at least a hundred 08's dozens of new 07's and even one '06 where I work. All MD/ HD trucks though.

That '06 will be four years old at the end of this summer, by build date

Re: 72's built in 73

There was a strike at GM in '72. I know that there were some F-bodies (Camaro/Firebird) that were still on the assembly lines when the strike was settled. At that time, it was time to changeover to the '73's and those '72's on the lines were just destroyed.

I don't think that GM would do anything differently with the trucks, than they would with the cars.

Then, I'm not management....

This is what I tried to tell him is that when they change the line over what is left would be either put back for parts or destroyed. He has no proof so its just his opinion

Re: 72's built in 73

they didn't build any 72 body styles in 73.
The corvette option thing is beyond played... when you guys had new guys asking "what is that" I kinda figured it'd die down.
guess not
