72 Super Sport?

I was wondering if a 71-72 SS came with a 350?

If not what engines came with SS in the El Camino and how would I discover if the engne is stock? I found a 72 SS but it has a 350. I wanted to check this out.

Re: 72 Super Sport?

Get the casting numbers and look them up on mortec.com. They have lots of info that'll help.
Also on the front of the block right by the front of the cylinder head there is a flat pad with some #s There is a date code and a partial vin# you could match up.

Re: 72 Super Sport?

It's easy check the vin#s on the block, Just a warning though, small block SS's are not worth what the 402 Big Blocks bring. Still more desireable than a Malibu, but don't pay BB money on them.

not sure what you mean by this, unless you mean those two years were the only years for small block SS, that would be accurate
