Just jumped in w both feet

Had the opportunity to pick up a friends "old truck" that he had to move, and being who I am I had to look. 70 GMC 1/2 ton long bed 350 np465. Needs cab corners, been sitting since the late 90s, very solid and rust free. At a fool's bet price. So of course I drug it home.

Trying to do research on the best plan for it ( would really rather have a short bed) I stumbled across a 1962 short step close to home, once again at a come steal it price. Drove it 35 miles home ( at about 45 mph). 283 V8 another stupid np465 but again rust free.

Sell 70 and spend on 62? That's why I am here. Not going to do anything until I figure out what the hell I am going to do.

Will post pictures once I figure out how!

Hi!

Re: Just jumped in w both feet

Pictures worked! Picked up a set of 15x10 old school slot mags and a set of mid 70s rally wheels for the 70 not sure which are the best yet. Or run the 8 spokes off the 62 on the 70. Have 3 of the factory 16 riveted wheels for the 62, searching for the 4th. Bought a 1983 c10 for parts, but was too nice to cut up so traded it for a daily. Did get a front suspension off another mid 80s c10 including brakes and steering. But seriously considering keeping the 62 torsion. Like I said, I dunno what I'm doing yet. But it will be fun!

And the parts truck that was lucky it was too nice

Re: Just jumped in w both feet

The 70 is by far your best truck. My opinion since you asked... Lots of potential there. The body and paint look really good. If I was you I would dump the wagon wheels, sell the 62, install some factory steel wheels, white stripe tires, and hub caps on the 70 and make it a driver. Or if you are wanting a custom look there are tons of options, this board is by far your best resource for ideas. Good call on the disc brakes, that’s a great upgrade in any case.

Thanks. Tons of info here, soaking it in and stacking up parts.
