Re: Show your Rear Disc Brake Set Up

Here's my set up. Purchased as a kit, Baer SS4+ (4 piston caliper on a 13" rotor) with approx 12" braided ss lines (banjo bolts etc) for my 6 lug. The picture is a mock up. I should complete the brake set up next week. Hard lines and power boost are 3-4 months out.

Re: Show your Rear Disc Brake Set Up

Weaintscared,
Check out the Baer website, I bought them in December when they had a sale. I also got the Pro+ series for the fronts. Haven't completed the install yet so I can't tell you how they work. I will say that the Pro + fronts are quite large (14" + caliper size) which require at least 18" wheels. With the larger bore size (3.5" for a 6 lug 12 bolt) you are limited on the wheels that are available...

Re: Show your Rear Disc Brake Set Up

Mines a 6 lug. I'm using front rotors and calipers from a 73-87 4wd. the rotors go on behind the axle flange. The caliper brackets are the weld on ones available everywhere, try to find the 3/8" ones. You have to drill out the axles for different wheel studs, so I upgraded to bigger 14mm studs.

Re: Show your Rear Disc Brake Set Up

Cpp 12" rear kit. Went on very easy. First thing I've purchased from them I've been impressed with. It's a late 80s Lincoln caliper.

Re: Show your Rear Disc Brake Set Up

Lots of great options here, anyone using captain fab brackets? I hate the idea of $500+ rear brakes but the relief from knuckle bustin' and cussin at springs on drum brakes has me on the fence... Once you figure the complete cost of all new components for drum brakes, well it gets a bit closer to reality..

Got my kit from Tom's Classics on ebay $400, booster/master cylinder from CPP. SS brake line from Inline Tube. Went on pretty smooth.

Re: Show your Rear Disc Brake Set Up

Anyone using C-clip eliminators? I heard you need this on rear disks to keep the axles from shifting and rubbing the pads.

Re: Show your Rear Disc Brake Set Up

Please correct me if I was wrong ( I was making castles at the air if I’m wrong).
I probably did understand, that brackets and calipers and discs etc. from a Cadillac El Dorado could be swap in 67-87 rearends but I can see almost all of you bought the brackets from different sellers except for nann67 .
Could the brackets of Cadillac work or not?

Same junkyard I got the rear calipers from! It's an '85 IROC Z rear bar (15/16" dia., solid bar).
