Inner fender seals

I have a 65 GMC, that I am in the process of putting the front clip back together.

Firewall is painted, the inner fenders and rad support as well.

I am pretty sure I do not want metal on metal.

I saw a product in my local Canadian tire store that looked alot like household weatherstriping.

It was in the autobody section, and was identified as automotive. It was a roll of 5/8'' black foam. says waterproof.

Anybody use something like this?

Any other suggestions as to what to use?

Thanks

Re: Inner fender seals

You can buy them aftermarket. Here’s a thread on them.

Thanks, I saw that thread before. It doesn't really answer my question about the inner fenders to the firewall, and rad support. It deals more with the outer fenders, important stuff too, but another subject.

The thread is actually called 60-66 inner fender to firewall seals and is full of pictures and info on the seals between the inner fenders and firewall. Very little information in that thread regarding outer fenders. I bought a roll of inner fender seal from Bills Truck Shop for $20 looks exactly like the original product and works fine. But if the stuff from Can Tire looks good, roll with it.

Re: Inner fender seals

Like I said, I saw that thread. I looked through it again the other day and again this morning. The majority of the pics are of the outer fenders. No pics of the inners to the rad support.

You did answer a question I had though. I was wondering if Bill had a product for that job. I will placing an order with him shortly, and will add some of that sealer.

Thanks
