Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?

Also Caranuba acts as a filler for swirls and synthetic has no filling characteristics. Also layering a cleaner wax will do nothing. It will remove the previous coat with your 2nd coat. So a 2nd coat is only to ensure coverage. I do not recomend cleaner waxes. It is best to polish and prep paint before a REAL wax. Many people often get poor results with waxes and complain about the time it lasts. Iv never had a wax last less then 6months. I am serious. From cheapy gold class to pinnical sourvarian. With good prep you will see good results. Just like paint everything is in the prep.

Any more q, feel free to ask.

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?

i've been quite impressed with the Surf City Garage line of products, available at autogeek.net, and some walmart stores.

I really like Detailers Pride (DP) products, MaxWax being my all time favorite.

Surf City makes some awesome stuff! I'm not a big fan of Wal-Mart,but it's very cool to be able to buy Surf City products locally.

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?

I've tried most everything through the years.. But I've had the best results with products from Adams, Surf City and Wizards. They seem to work equally well. Zaino works well too but I'm just to old and lazy to work that hard any more.

I've tried them all as they come out. I always seem to go back to Mequire's. On a Surf City kick now and like it.

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?

I haven't given the Surf City wax a try, but I do love the tire shine.. It actually lasts, but then again so does Adam's super VRT.

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?

In my experiece, you cant beat a "pure" carnuba for overall finish. Youll have to apply it twice as often as you would if you used a synthetic wax but a synthetic will never look as good as a carnuba based one.

Ive been having a hard time lately finding a "pure", non-cleaner type carnuba at local retailers but I recently bought some Surf City Garage stuff at Wal-Mart and so far have been inpressed. Goes on nice, comes off pretty easy and gives that slickness I like.

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?

Do any of you guys have a more "patina" type truck?

All you ever hear about these days is "CLR it first and then wax it"

But what wax (brand or texture) on a more paint/rust situation where you're trying to preserve the current level of patina please?

thanks guys!

Agreed!! Along with their Carnuba Wax Sticks. Even in the door jambs! This stuff has the best clarity of any wax I've used. Especially on an old/original paint car- synthetic waxes can't come close! I've tried Wizards, Meguiars, 3M, and Zymol and keep going back to Griot's.

If water beads on the car, that creates a magnifying glass for the sun on our paint. You really want the water to run off

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?

I'm reading down through the comments on this thread about wax, was starting to feel left out. Then alas, someone mentions Malm's. To the fellow that just simply posted the product name Malm's, I must say you've done your homework. nough said.
