I crack up at these so called "better than In-N-Out" joints like 5 guys, and they are just a rip off of how In-N-Out does food prep. Yet, the burger has no taste nor does the fries.

Similar to Sonic? You gotta be kidding me? Sonic burgers are like eating a soggy piece of heavy corrugated cardboard between some nasty old fixins...

I guess you have to be a Southern Californian to truly appreciate an In-N-Out burger, since every region has it's favorite burger and claim it's the best.

Just a SoCal icon of fast food that every burger flippin shop tries to emulate to capitalize off of IMO. Though I have to say... It's just a fast food burger, and if you're out of the area hopes have been pumped up about it. Then you are bound to be negative about it.

Just have one, and if you like it. Then have a coke and smile, if not then enjoy your local favorite.
x100 on everything.

In SoCal that is it, oh and besides The Hat, the pastrami at Canters too.

Here in the northwest, Burgerville it the shiz.....

Re: In-N-Out Burger

There is a buger joint in Greenville ohio called Maidrites...its not a chain and it has steamed burgers (meat and buns) that looks more like a BBQ sandwich except its a burger. They have been in business for eons and it beats all other burgers by far. From the early days kids would go through the drive thru and stick thier chewing gum on the old brick wall and then stick a penny in the gum. Its sort of gross but one gets use to it after a while. Not meant to hi Jack but I have never hear of the In-N-Out burger.

Re: In-N-Out Burger

I love hamburgers. In-N-Out..... best burger ever. 5 Guys is not bad, but, doesn't even come close to In-N-Out. Sonic's good, too, but still not In-N-Out. I won't even discuss the big chains. We have made holiday plans just to go to areas for In-N-Out.

Love the fries, too. And when you talk about service, They really seem to train their people better then anyone.

Dammit, Vectorit, those pics made me hungry!

Re: In-N-Out Burger

In N Out has been in business since 1948, first one opened in Baldwin Park. The menu has not changed in 63 years. Their service and quality is unmatched. They also start their employees at a minimum of $10 an hour plus benefits...try getting that being a Whopper flopper at Burger King. They keep their employees happy, and that translates to an excellent customer experience. All of their food is fresh, no preservatives, and is bought locally. They give a lot back to the community. It is NOT a franchise, it has been owned and operated by the Snyder family since day one. When it comes to "fast food" there is NO comparison.

You can read more on the history here: http://www.in-n-out.com/history.asp

The prices are not bad either, take a look:

I did not say it WAS similar to Sonic. I have never been to one, so I would not know. I said the pic posted looks like a Sonic burger. I don't like fast food burgers at all, so I will agree on the cardboard deal, but its like salty cardboard IMHO

I think it was just me, after reading 68C15 mention of Sonic and then your mention. Plus with my experience with Sonic, I think I just a little over worked.

Love In-N-Out Burger! It's the best.....

At my age I need to watch my intake. Unlike SF Giants superstar Tim Lincecum.

Get this, his traditional fare? Three Double-Doubles. Two fries. A chocolate-strawberry shake. Ketchup please, but hold the lettuce and tomatoes.

Face it guys, our preferences for burgers is no different than our preferences for trucks or women. Different strokes for different folks. Variety helps to keep life interesting...

Re: In-N-Out Burger

They just opened a 5 guys around the corner from here, and it is good... a little better than Culvers, but still not IN n Out.
In the town close to where I grew up there is a 3 store chain that is pretty awesome... if you are ever in Lima Ohio off !75 in western Ohio, look for a Kewpee. Preferably the down town one.

Re: In-N-Out Burger

I've had both 5 guys and In n' Out and to me there isn't a nickel's worth of difference.

With that being said, I do admit they are both head and shoulders above a McD's, Hardee's/Carl Jr.'s/Burger King and Sonic burger.

Kinda like mentioning McDonalds in Rockwell to me

Its all good, one thing I have noticed is each Sonic is different than the rest. Same menu for the most part, but even area to area around here, the quality of meat substance and cheeses etc are not the same. Take for instance, one a few towns from us has meat that is edible. It looks alot like hamburger and does not taste like a salt lick. One in Tx, uses nacho cheese and yet another grade of meat. One in Salisbury NC has different packs you can buy, but the one in Rockwell does not. The kids love it, so we get stuck with it.. I would prefer to just go somewhere that just cooks real meat hand patted burgers.

In N Out isn't bad, but to me its about like most fast food joints. When I want a good burger I hit up a good non chain restaurant or make my own.

Re: In-N-Out Burger

We don't have an In N Out here in my area, would like to try one tho, even tho the picture posted of the double looked kinda small.

We have a place in a town nearby called Fat Burger, first time there i ordered a double meat double cheese, i had not realized that each patty was about 1/2 lb each.. pretty darn good, just difficult to finish! They also offered a tripple and Quad burger..

Another local place called patty's burgers in Tacoma is probably the best on my list.

Burger King? i'll go hungry, McDonalds? if i'm desperate.

I used to live in a house that was down wind of an In N Out so you could smell the burgers, gained a pound or two living there.

Re: In-N-Out Burger

I haved lived in Ca. my whole life and have had the chance to try most of the fast food places.

I think 5 guys and In-N-Out burger are the best fast food burgers I have ever had. They just recently opended the 5 guys near me about a year ago. Pretty tasty. I think they are both about equal just depends what your in the mood for. They both have there own unique flavor.

I dont think any of the big time fast food franchises are on the same level. not by a long shot. I do like Carls Jr though.. Burgerking and McDonalds are not even a option for me. Sonic is just OK

in-n-out is ok. i only go when the GF wants it because the meals are too small for me, even the hidden size burger. i dont like the secret sauce or fries.
the burgers taste pretty good, now if only they were maybe 4 or 5 times bigger.

The farmer boys drive thru SUCKS! If you go inside and eat, you get this amazing burger that looks like it should be on a commercial. There drive through food is allways soggy and greasy.
