Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Thanks Brett.
My son didn't want shiny so I let him pick the wheels. No bad. It is definitely a truck to use.

I do hope he get the trans fixed. As I am a little worried but he is going to take care of it.

I still noticed a little miss in the truck yesterday when my son and I took it for a ride. Today the front end gets aligned before I drop off at the trans shop.

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Well guys got "Jr" back home yesterday. It was a bad torque converter. I did find 2 bolts that are not the ones I installed. So I will change them to make sure they are correct and same. A few scratches on the crossmember and driveline. I will also need to adjust the shift linkage but other than that not to bad for him doing the work for no charge. Some would have said bring back the defective one and I will give you a replacement.
Now it's back to getting the bumpers and inner fenders on and working on the door mechanisms and Windows regulators.
Oh and I am going to raise the bed 1/4" because the body lines are off after installing the body/cab bushing mounts. On and a passenger mirror glass cut.

Right Brett... I hope so....

I am going to order a fan shroud. Just so I can get this straight the stock fan shroud dimensions are
LMC number and descriptions
32-2820 SBC V8 W/O AC 5-7/8"
32-2825 SBC V8 AC 5"
32-2826 SBC 4x4 8-7/8"

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Ok so since I moved the motor forward 2-1/4" and added a 2-1/4" fan spacer. The back edge of the fan blade to the radiator is 3-7/8. So if I remove the fan spacer it should be 3-7/8" + 2-1/4" = 6-1/8". A factory non AC c10 fan shroud is 5-7/8". An AC shroud is 5". I think the non AC shroud at 5-7/8" will work best. What do you think? As I want to order is asap.

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

More food for thought? The BB shroud on the K30 measures 4-1/2" and is running the larger 4-core 3-3/4" mounts with a 1-3/4" fan spacer on the short water pump. Blue runs the same 4 core arrangement with a 5" shroud hope that helps Scott.

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Thanks Brett,
I ordered the HD cooling non AC shroud. The difference is just the flat flange. If I need to make it less than 5-7/8" I can trim the flange around the fan. I am going to remove the spacer I installed to put it back to a stock serpentine system.

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Ok so I was trying to figure out what is wrong with the my tach. I have the correct wires connected. bit noticed that i do not have anything connected to the center post which I think is a ground.

Can anyone confirm that the post should have a ground wire on it?

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Ok so I took a video of the truck sound after the carb and timing was adjusted. Starts great and sounds good. After I shot the video. I fixed the tach. I had it wired backwards. All good now.
sound of the trucks exhaust
My son and I took it for a drive yesterday about 30 miles. Got up to highway speeds. Ran great.
I just have to get the fan shroud installed. I ordered it from LMC. plus a few other odds and end. I received a large box with only the little stuff no fan shroud. So I called them and they said "it should be in there" and asked me to "make sure I check the bottom". ?????????

(I am not going to say anything more!!!!!)They did say "they would ship it out" so hopefully I will see it next week.
Rock on guys!!!

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

The mean green machine sounds great!

I grounded my tach center post because it was not mounted to the tins/dash which should supply your ground. It wouldn't hurt to run a temp wire to see if it helps. It appeared that it was working very little. Perhaps it is getting too much signal and may require a filter? Mine in my build thread is an original and is hooked to an HEI w/o a filter but it is slow to respond and I'm wondering if the performance could be better with less signal?

It is an 8cyl tach right?

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Hey guys,
I took and switched the wires and the tach works now. I guess I just switched the wires when I built the harness. I am also running a HEI with no filter and seems to be fine.

I did get a suprise yesterday from fedex.
But I think I am going to finish the few odds and ends before I start the EFI swap.
Happy Sunday

Awesome, keep us posted on the install of the efi. I hope you have better luck with the FCC than me. I am sending it back for the 2nd time to c if they can fix vent problem.

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Sorry to hear you are still having problems. Let me know what they find. I did put a return to the tank but I want to make sure it's working before I hook it up to the tank as I don't want it to just overflow to the tank the whole time.

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Ya I'm hesitant on hooking up vent to tank . I'm afraid it will just fill with gas and not vent properly. The guys at fitech say the vent is going to put gas out due to the FCC being hot or fuel sloshing around. I haven't seen any post by Coopdog I wonder how is setup is still working?

Finally got the fan shroud and installed it yesterday. I had to change the fan as the one I had was a 19.5" 5 blade. I needed a 18"

Driver side. Now I can cut down the top radiator hose to fit since it won't hit the fan.
Does any one know what the span of a stock temperature gauge is? Like 150-250 degrees.

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Drove the truck around this weekend. Well my son did as he got his license. The temp gauge pegs to H sometimes, then back to the middle. So I checked the top of the radiator from the intake 147 degrees.

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Bottem of the radiator 95 degrees. It was also about 80 outside. But seems to be cooling fine. Just need to check temp gauge. Or replace with the original one that was on the truck before I put the tach gauge in.

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"

Your shroud setup looks great, did you buy a new sending unit? I ask because I did and the new one reads +30 degrees hotter when tested. If not your probably right it's the gauge and I think your temp guess is pretty close on the stock gauge readings.
