Beveled 5.3 liter flexplate

i figured out i have a beveled flexplate with the 3 bolt pattern, and im serious about swapping it maybe with a different one, but have heard you need spacers for a flat one. im confused. the bevels stick out like its already spaced for this tranny, yet i see alot about these trannys having to have the flexplate or torque convertor swapped or a spacer put in. this is all very confusing

Re: Beveled 5.3 liter flexplate

SO i did some carefull research. and i got the name of the flex plate wrong. i have a dished flexplate. could this be bolted up to a 4L80E? and if so will i have to have the following shown in the photos? also that isnt my engine in the photo, except its a matching flexplate.

Re: Beveled 5.3 liter flexplate

yes....you need a 6 hole flexplate for an 80e. I bought a "older generation trans" kit from Pace that had this flexplate and the spacer. I had used this for a 200-4r which needed the 3 holes on a tighter pattern so I just drilled them. When I pulled it, the flexplate wound up working out great for my 85e.

Nice! I figured the dished one will have to go any way. any one got any problems with the ATP spacer and flexplate for $63? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/at...make/chevrolet

Re: Beveled 5.3 liter flexplate

68GMCCustom that is a crazy looking flexplate. I've never seen an LS flexplate that looked like that.

When I bought my Yank converter, they hooked me up with an LS/4L80E swap flexplate that works great. No spacer needed, and it's SFI approved.

Re: Beveled 5.3 liter flexplate

Yes its strange looking and looks too weak to me...and I should probably be running SFI flexplate. Looks like it would be twisted into a pretzel in between my cam'd up big headed 6.0... and my 4L85e.

Thats what I need to do is call yank...my convertor was supposed to be 2400 stall but is stock. I need like a 3k or so stall. I've just been putting it off because of a upcoming wheel/tire purchase. I've understood that you can get the "spacer" issue worked into the convertor too...so it wouldn't need the spacer.

Ahhhh, now that you mention it, that is what I've got....lol. Then I got a "regular" LS SFI flexplate from them.

Forgive me, it's been a few years
