Newbe question

Hi All:

I have a 1946 GMC 1-1/2 ton according to the VIN#, it was my Great Grandfathers, I would like to get started on a resto, currently into doing my 1984 GMC 1/2 ton resto but would like to start on this as well. my question is, what years of these trucks are the parts interchangeable, panels especially. Most of the body is in decent shape but the passenger door skins and front passenger fender are in need of replacement. Also any advice on where to find aftermarket parts for these years would be much appreciated. Thanks.

41-46 and early 47. Cab style started in 1939. Jim Carter carries lots of items for these guys. You can also learn a ton of info at the stovebolt forum. Good luck and welcome to the board

Re: Newbe question

As 68panelman said Stovebolt forum has a lot of info and a vin decoder. That is how I figured out mine. It is limited but it will get you close. How about some pics?
