The engineers at GM, in their infinite wisdom, decided to put one bolt diagonally inside. Sure makes it easy to install runners. I'm thinking 15-20 Ft/ lb. to install

Sorry for the delay, but kitchen is almost done, and wanted to start ordering parts for my hydro boost system. First step is to determine which M/C you have, mine is considered deep early, as per pic on top of plenum

You were my first thought captain, but the one from Hydratech comes with an aluminum bracket included. Sorry I couldn't buy one from you

Understood. I did not realize that you had already bought a unit from Hydratech.

My brackets are mainly intended for those that purchase either good used components or simply go to their local auto parts store and pickup new or rebuilt components.

Jim, are you going to run drums in the rear? I guess I'm just trying to figure out why you care about the original master cylinder. My Hydrotech came with a repro Corvette master from CPP on it.

Also if you are running a Saginaw type power steering pump and original style power steering you should be OK, but if you are running the newer style pumps and rack and pinion it gets a little more complicated. Rack and pinion needs lower pressure levels than the hydroboost needs to be effective, so if you make the hydroboost happy, you over pressurize the rack. I had my pump rebuilt (newer LS, Corvette type pump) by Lees to put out hydroboost flow rates, and am planning on using the Heidt's power steering valve to balance out the pressures so both are happy.

Scorpio, thanks for the advice. I wish I could run a rack and pinion, but have yet to see anything for 4wd, so that will not be a problem. I have a new master so to save a hundred bucks, I will use my new m/c, and yes I have drums on the back

Captain, guess my pockets are to deep at the moment, and thought it less of a hassle to buy from a company that has experience with hydro boost. We'll see if it was the right choice.....

Forgot to mention I want to use my prebent stainless steel brake lines for master cylinder, prop valve, unless they give me sealing problems

We'll see how the system bolts up, but have to wait 4 week lead time

Chassis still in Arizona, but because of the *long* delay, Nathan over at Porterbuilt has agreed to do the engine mounts and all, so that's good.

Had renders done, I posted a lot of them in my build thread, a member did them for me and was really happy with his work, he really worked with me and did a good job of representing my kooky ideas. His handle on here is Hellaflush3d, and just so you know, because of my render he has already done a halftop Jimmy/Blazer.

Hey Jaro - I was looking into the hydratech Hydro Bosst system to use on mine as well. I picked up a rebuilt an original saginaw style style power steering pump from the local auto part store and installed a new AGR direct replacement gear box. Do you think I'd be ok without the Heidt's power steering valve? Also, a friend of mine was telling me they make a lot of noise.. Do you know of any truth to this?

you're actually quoting me not Jim, but you should be fine with the Saginaw type pumps, particularly if you are running a reticulating ball steering. The problem is really about using the ubiquitous Mustang type rack and pinion which doesn't require (or tolerate) the pressure levels that the hydroboost requires. Even the newer type mini pump can keep a hydroboost happy. The only time you need to really think about the Heidt's pressure control valve is when you are trying to run a low pressure rack with a high pressure hydroboost.

I haven't run mine yet, and while I do understand the hydroboost does make noise they were also used in various Cadillac models so I can't see where it would be some crazy noise level, the caddy crowd would never tolerate such a thing. Even if you search for "hydroboost noise" on youtube what comes up is what sounds like power steering pump noise and happens when the driver hits the brakes *OR* steers.

Yeah, saw his work, and they look great. Do you send a pic of your idea, and he does it in ink. What if you don't like his rendering, do you still have to buy it?

No ink, it's all CAD, computer renders. So he can pretty much keep tweaking it until you get what you want. Mine was, needless to say, complicated, just about every body part tweaked. But it's good to give you an idea of stance and color. He doesn't have an interior done though, like for mine he did the seat backs and so there aren't any topless renders above the horizon.

Anyway, not trying to sell you on it, just figured you have some of the same issues as me in that your project has a lot of unique features that you represent in your thread but get lost in context because your thread is long in length and time, like mine, and some times you have to go digging through your own thread just to remember where you're going with things.

For me these 2 renders alone were worth what I paid him.

The first let me see the truck from all flat angles and the second kind of made me feel like, I don't know, like there is an actual plan to work from, like I'm building something that's there, somewhere, and not just in my head.

Wow, that is amazingly lifelike... thanks for taking the time. I've really never had a vision of what this truck will look like, when and if I ever get it done. But I keep throwing money at it to keep me motivated.

It was nice to have one of my sons to stop by over Christmas to hang the intake. That is a massive amount of weight that I'm not sure I could have put on.

Did you buy that 3D printer?

I've toyed with the idea of having twin tank fills on mine, since my tank is new now is the time

My finances are less than liquid right now, so no, I didn't get the printer yet, although frankly the longer I wait the better and cheaper they get, so there is that.

Seems the intake bolts fall under the runners of the vortec/ tpi,in some instances, so pulled the wheel well so I could stand in the engine bay and work
Seemed like it was a good time to pull booster as well, since the parts should be in in a couple weeks, also yanked cruise control and coil packs
Seems spell check doesn't like the word vortex, ok fixed it, or not

First off thanks for looking, I just wanted to stress the importance of safety and understanding ones abilities. I don't think all people are created equal in their ability to restore trucks and cars

I've had several incidents over the years, where I wouldn't want someone to get hurt, because they weren't pay attention. A lot can and will go wrong, when you use the degree of tools used in restoration

I hope I didn't put you off, but, yes it is as real AS LIFE. I do want people to look and learn, I just don't want anyone TO GET HURT
