Faros Fraternity/Car Club Now Has A Website (Warning for Classic Car Lovers Only)

The Faros of American Graffiti fame has gotten their website launched and will continue to improve and build on it.

If you read the Faros website they never entertained a PH in their name, no one really knows why Lucas spelt it that way other than legality purposes.

The "Faros" first and foremost was founded as a Fraternity at the local Junior College and soon spread to the local High Schools

Pharoahs International is a completely different group they have charters all across the U.S. and sell memberships to anyone with $25

Below is the Faros Plaque on the Walk of Fame in downtown Modesto and a page take from George Lucas's autobiography "A Life". Sorry for the blurry pic but it's all I got.

I seem to recall seeing "Pharoahs" club placards in the back package shelves of some cars back when we cruised Van Nuys Blvd in the early '70s.

Yes there are several Pharoahs Car Clubs spread across the U.S. and some are even spelt Pharaohs.

They spelled it that way because one of the original members' older brother already had printed cards spelled that way that he never used. You'd have to ask the older brother
