Some more...oh and another change... got a great deal on a brand new T56 for a project that changed direction. Had to pick up a pedal assembly and a new floor shifter column but oh boy and I stoked about rowing though gears

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

Okay so the sitting on the couch got old I got up and got out in the garage. Wasnt going to let a knee brace hold me back.... ha it kicked my butt crawling up and down with that brace. Even though I was beat up I got it all done. I am stoked on how it came out!!!! First I got the motor finished up and off the engine stand ready to install. I bolted the T56 up to it wrestled it in it's new home. Ended up mounting the motor back farther than stock a bit and as low as it could while being above the frame.

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

Thanks for preserving another 68 Golden. THe Gold color wsa nothing really special. It was applied to essentially any pickup, just as a signification of 1968 being the 50th year of Chevrolet pickup production.
The 100th year anniversary pickup is an over the top, one choice only deal, Sticker was like $52,000, take it or leave it, no way to order that blue paint color with any other options, or lack of options...No way I could hack that price...

Thanks! Yes it was originally Gold and White but when I bought it the po had just re painted it. I have had it for 12 years now so since I used it as truck it has its wear marks. Also I saw that in my first post I had wrote 25th I must of had a brain fart that day meant 50th haha. Been plugging away in the garage again I go back to work next week so trying to get more done. Want to drive it by the end of April. My little helper has been in the garage with me lately too. She loves to play in Daddys truck (I tried rotating that photo a dozen times and every time it came out sideways).

Got all my black fuel line and fancy water hose line with an fittings. Should have all the fuel and heater hose ran tomorrow. Need to build the fuel cell mounts and mount the tank in place. Then on to wiring.....ugh I hate wiring. It's an all new harness from painless so not that bad but time consuming none the less.

I am very happy to have the stick too. I wanted it from the begining but just couldnt pop the coin. This deal was to good to pass up though. Has kinda made me wish I had done more speed oriented things or autocross style but I will have fun no matter what I think.

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

Water fitting in and mocked up. Just need to punch the pass through for the water lines and those are ran. Going to go with a heater/defrost from vintage air later once it's up and running. Hooked up the fuel line and the return/regulator. Oh man that is looking just like I was hoping!!

It's really looking sharp! Love your choice of valve covers and fuel/ water lines. Excellent progress ReadBeard, I bet you're so ready to drive it again! Whats up with your air cleaner, did you cut the snorkel down or is it a different one?

Is the offset of the front wheels pushing them out past the wheel well and are you planning to run those? Makes me nervous of damaging the nice gold paint.

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

Hey guys thanks. Super excited how it is coming together.

CEBRA- the wheels are just rollers they have a 3.75 offset. I have some 8 inch steel rims I was going to use to keep it kinda low key hot rod with 215/65r15's they fit just inside the wheel arch. If I stay with the 15's the rear will be 15x10's with 295/50r15. I too feel the same way about it looks terrible ha.

CORNERSTONE- Thanks man found a deal on Amazon for the fuel line kit. Hope it doesnt leak. Didnt do anything with the air cleaner. I have three actually not sure which one I am going to use yet.

BROWNSVILLE- I love my long bed but I have to say these autocross guys and their short beds sure are sexy...... that being said I really like having a shop truck that can go so it will stay long bed for awhile.

Havent been able to get in the garage lately been down at the shop catching up on side jobs after the surgery. It has maybe lead to a possible change... yes I know I tell myself all the time stop changing and just finish it!!! Haha. I cant help it I started with an idea and was full steam but my buddies shop we do all kinds of stuff and I really do love the restomod styling. Also because I dont have all the money to just throw down and build it in 6 months ideas come up or horse trades. Case in point we have a 61 c10 in the shop doing a ls swap and suspension. I might sell him all my stuff so I can buy the full qa1 set up. Which means I can upgrade brakes and if I want to a set of 18's or 18/20's. I am kinda leaning towards just 18s though. Still stay long bed but a nice shop truck canyon runner.

Here some photos of what we have been doing at the side shop since no new truck updates yet. Been helping rebuild my buddies 48 chevy shop truck. Has a 6.0l/4l65E with a four link setup we built out back. 9 inch rearend 3.73's and accuair endo-cvt. Has a S10 chassis and tubular control arms. He built the truck 15 years ago and it's time for an update.

The other one is a 64 buick skylark that well kinda got out of control. We kicked in and up the frame because what is cooler than a 64buick laid out.... a 64 buick laidoutwith 335/20's in the rear and a Nelson racing's twin turbo setup....

Heres another of the Skylars frame and tires. Then another example of me not throwing things away. My buddy that's a construction foreman and had left over I beams on a site they were going to throw away he asked if I wanted them.... no but yes. Hahaha I can make a frame table out of them. What have I got myself into these things are huge. 10 feet long and 10"x10" tall and wide.

Holy cow. 64 Skylark is Jay Leno worthy. Is it on air?

Nice score on the beams too. They are not cheap.... For the past 10 years I've been on a salvage mission, stockpiling steel beams, trusses, and posts with the intention of building a shop. I now have everything I need to build a 40x40 with 14' ceilings. I'm getting started with digging the piers shortly.

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

Well since the fever has kind of hit me a bit with making this tank handle a bit more I borrowed a steam roller from the side work shop to see how it would fit and look...... well damn I like it. 315/30r18 not set on that sidewall size and also these are very nice tires that are summer tires not daily driver all seasons.
