Not much to show, but making progress. We finally had a string of 3 nice days in a row (fri/sat/sun).

Don't let your giant shop sit for a month. All your *bleeping bleep bloop bleep* stuff will move. My fault. We slapped up trusses quick to save $ and kick the crane out.

Apparently if you start half the final bracing and leave it all uncovered, it will shift. My fault. The back wall was still straight (the front wall had pushed out over and inch because of the weight of the half braced ceiling pushing against it) so I braced the piss out of the back wall and used a cable to pull it all back within an 1/8".

It's all straightening back out, but it's been slow. I'm probably going to have to pressure wash all the black crap off so I don't fail an inspection for "mold". It will have a full tarp by thanksgiving, I can't leave it open anymore.

These were $$$ but worth every penny. I borrowed a set from my neighbor, but having two of these rolling around has been super helpful.

I got tired of tripping over things, so this weekend I cleaned everything up, made a pretty decent fire out of all of the old scraps for the past 4 months, and put the windows in so they were out of the way finally.

Made really good progress on the bracing.

I might take friday off from work this week and try to get all of the floor/ceiling bracing done and get the floor down up there. With the floor down it's only 8' to the peak. I'll feel a lot safer trying to close this thing in.

Just the one row of blocking significantly stiffened it up. 1 and a half more to go then floor.

Yep....uncovered, those trusses will do some crazy things when they get wet....looking good so far...

I'm actually looking forward to getting it closed off now, even if it is just a big tarp. Even getting just one side done this weekend would be awesome.

Once the roof is covered up, I'll get the sides wrapped too.

I tried that too, but apparently taking care of two geriatric dogs doesn't qualify to be a stay at home dad.

My job apparently wants me to stay, they keep giving me raises. I'm actually on her heels in terms of salary finally, but she gets production bonuses that keep me at a distance...

Not much to look at, but I was able to get both ends tied together and one side of my "catwalk" done.

The real moment of satisfaction was loosening the cable and nothing moved. It's rock solid now. I have one more row of blocking to do.

For now, the weather is showing we've got some rainy weekend days coming over the next two weeks

I'm hoping to get my main storage area floor down and the catwalk on the other side. I'll then feel safe enough to straighten the trusses a little better vertically with final bracing. It will go A LOT faster if I have a floor to stand on

There's also a couple of roofing companies I'm going to talk to about sheeting and shingling. It's just too damn large for me to do alone. I've already placed my order for shingles and sheeting, hopefully they'll work with me on price. I would think 3 days labor for a crew of 4... $3K-3500. It's super straight forward. I'm out of time. I don't have 3 more months to screw around closing this thing in.

It looks like the weather wants to fight me now. We got 2" of rain on saturday. I finally have 4 days off, and this weekend isn't looking good either.

I didn't feel like crawling up and down the scaffolding so I got one of the front doors final framing done.

It also drives me nuts my phone always makes framing look like a curved banana. I used a level and an 8' straight edge on it, it's straight.

Weather cleared out and we had a beautiful holiday weekend. I built a ladder slider thing to haul the heavy ass sheeting to the 2nd floor.

Excluding the ladder and battery that I had laying around, I only had around $100 in this. If I were going to do it again, I need a longer ladder (this was half of a 24 footer) and I'd use tubing instead of wood for the bracing. What I have is fine for bringing up a couple sheets of sheeting at a time.

Upstairs floor is down. The whole thing got tarped off.

The horizontal studs are a few inches more than 4' high so I'm going to run just one row of sheetrock to keep stuff from falling through the ceiling below. I'll leave the rest open. My plan is to enclose the staircase with a door at the bottom and use the area under the stairs for the compressor room.

All of the permanent bottom bracing is done and I removed all of the temporary bracing and cables, and nothing moved

All 3 rows of blocking done. With the upper floor down this thing is rock solid now. I will finish the upper row of blocking on the side wall, someday.

It's tempting to cut in a couple windows up here. It actually has a really nice view.

Been lurking since the beginning. Coming along real nice. I would put the windows in as well. Give you some natural light and make it easy to get some airflow up there when needed.

It should get a good bit of air. The ceiling below will be fully insulated (the first floor will be fully insulated). I'm going to run vented soffit down both 52' sides, a ridge vent, and one of those octagonal vents on each gable end.

Thanks guys, it's tough to keep moving forward every single weekend. There's so much other fun stuff to do. I have almost 2 full weeks off for Christmas/New Years. I hope to have the roof all squared away and ready for a contractor to take over the sheeting and shingles, and all the sheeting on the walls/gables by the end of it. If I can schedule the roof by the end of January or sooner that would be awesome.

After that electric should only be a couple days, then I can sheetrock the ceiling, once that's done I can call the door guys and get it fully closed in. March? Sounds reasonable, right?

Little more progress. Squaring up these door jams in 3 planes wasn't fun.

My not so great 2x12's came back to bite me. Lowe's had like 12 left. I picked the best 9. I should have gone to another store with more in stock.

The back door was done first, it was Ok. I might have to chip off a couple small sections to be perfect.

The front left door was done next, it's kinda OK. Flush on the inside, then just the right side needed like 1/8" shaved off. This one looks worse than what it was, it was barely shaved.
