SPID Option question

Ok...here is the SPID from my '72 and I have a question for those of you who are in the know....on the options, spid, etc

Column 2, option F51 Frt / RR shock absorber....?

What does this mean?....they all had shock absorbers so what did this call for?

....separately but along the same lines, why did they list the (F59) front stabilizer as an option?
I thought by 1972 that was standard equipment?

all good & many thanks!

Re: SPID Option question

I think the sway bar was an option all the way through these years. The shocks are heavy duty. Not sure why it can't say HD, except keeping it short

...ahhh, ok...makes sense and I agree, it would have been nice and informative if that had been able to type in an HD into that info....lol....clear up a few things.

As for the sway bar being still an option then....? really....I thought it was standard but that is just my best recollection of things.

Re: SPID Option question

I have had trucks with no sway bar, but not sure if they didn't become standard at some point. I don't think they did, though. I have seen tons of low option trucks with only these three options: AM radio, gauges, front sway bar. My last '72 SWB was one.

Re: SPID Option question

My Dad's truck didn't even have the AM radio! Only interior option was a lighter, which I believe was still an option in 68.

Re: SPID Option question

Well, I use to smoke and when I bought my new 69 in the fall of 68 I had to install a lighter as well as the radio. I quit smoking back in 1977, I think I have it whipped now.

Re: SPID Option question

My 72 didn't come with a sway bar. I added front and rear bars. Not sure when they became standard equipment, but it wasn't 67-72.

Agreed on the shocks
