Stevie Ray Vaughan
27th Aug 1990, Stevie Ray Vaughan was killed when the helicopter he was flying in, hit a man-made ski slope while trying to navigate through dense fog. Vaughan had played a show at Alpine Valley Music Theatre, East Troy, Wisconsin with Robert Cray & His Memphis Horns, and Eric Clapton. Vaughan was informed by a member of Clapton's crew that three seats were open on a helicopter returning to Chicago with Clapton's crew, it turned out there was only one seat left; Vaughan requested it from his brother, who obliged. Three members of Eric Clapton's entourage were also killed.

Re: Stevie Ray Vaughan
We wondered all the next day if Clapton would hold his tour schedule. He played Sandstone in KC on the 28th, but dang was it a somber show.

Re: Stevie Ray Vaughan
I was too young to care about his music when he was alive but truly enjoy it now. Tin Pan Alley is my all time favorite demo song for highend speakers.

Re: Stevie Ray Vaughan
Wow time flies. I saw SRV twice, once when he was on tour with Jeff Beck. I had a ticket to an upcoming show when he died and I also remember hearing the news on the radio. The first time I was him was at an outdoor amphitheater in Santa Fe, 1985. Small crowd - awesome show. He broke into Couldn't Stand the Weather in a monsoon drizzle.
