Re: Tired of run arounds from.....

I'd try a vendor that has actually worked on one of these trucks and owns one of these trucks. When you call some vendors, you might get some lady that only knows what her screen says.

Try GMC Paul's or Brothers

Had the same problem with them. When you call anyone ask if they carry the precision brand. that is the only one that I got to fit right.I think GMCPAUL'S AND BROTHERS carry them.

Brothers has very good customer service. It's worth a little extra coin to get things right the first time.

^This big time!^ LMC CustomerCare tells me to install a part that I know is faulty (the reason I contacted them in the first place) then if I still have a problem, take photos and contact them again. Yet their return policy states, "Parts which installation has been completed or attempted are not returnable. It is the customer's responsibility to check parts BEFORE installation". I've learned my lesson.

Re: Tired of run arounds from.....

When we were building my '67 I bought quite a few things from LMC and every thing was ok until we tried to install the windshield.

It took 4 of us to get the windshield in and a lot of words and time. The back window went it real easy. The cowl hood fit ok with minor adjustments and the core support worked real well.

The only reason I bought stuff from LMC is my son gets a discount and often free shipping.

When I start working on the '75 C-30 dually I will go with someone besides LMC. Their catalogs are great reference material though.

Re: Tired of run arounds from.....

Steele rubber makes good product. Ive had issues with LMC also, not with rubber but with ball joints. I hate using them but they have the widest inventory. I usually save time---but I would prefer to pay more if (IF) I could find all american parts instead of chinese junk. Chinese junk is what our government has done for us!!

Re: Tired of run arounds from.....

We, as an enthusiast community brought this on ourselves. The vast majority of the after market DIYers demand the cheapest parts available. Just look at all the threads of folks asking for recommendations of where to the xx parts for the best price (read cheapest cost). Only after they have been burned a few times do they start looking for better quality parts and are willing to spend a few more dollars. There is a never ending supply of beginner enthusiasts so ?"! and all the other inexpensive low quality parts houses will flourish. As 1972K20 said, vote with your wallet.

Re: Tired of run arounds from.....

Well, politics is a good way to hijack a good thread, but----
It was the government that did it to us first----The NAFTA treaty was the end of our society ,in this country at least, as we previously knew it. Nothing is made in the US anymore----because we all want to save a buck and are willing (actually are forced) to
accept foreign inferior junk---all in the name of fair trade and global economics.
(sorry for the rant)!!

I have only bought one part from LMC years ago when I was building my truck. A set of transmission cooler lines. They fit perfectly. I guess I got lucky.

Nowadays, the first person I call or order from is Wes at Classic Heartbeat. Not only is he helpful and knowledgeable, he is a local Washingtonian... so my money stays local to a local WA business.

You need to use Precision brand rubber. Brothers does not carry it. GMCPaul and Classicheartbeat (Wes) do. Buy from one of them unless you want a headache.

Why buy balljoints over the internet when they're available at the nearest parts store.

I figure tax and shipping pretty much offset and I can see if the part in my hand is a decent brand.

Maybe if the price is a lot different I'd go online if the brand can be verified.

Re: Tired of run arounds from.....

We can help as we have all the Precision truck weatherstrip in stock as I receive weekly deliveries keeping our inventory up to snuff. You'll find the rear window seals for the truck on the following page of our web site
http://www.gmcpauls.com/Pickup.htm
If you bought new glue on door weatherstrip from them you may want to get our new modern push on style door seals for the 67-72 door opening before you find out you can't close your doors properly with slamming them with the OEM style they sell.
