89 R100 Suburban...I need your Help

Okay here is my issue i have a 89 GMC suburban with a tailgate and as you made know from other owners the tailgate window motor has failed and they are getting harder and harder to find and replace. So i found a video on YT showing you how to convert to a manual window. Well i jumped right on that an took to the LMC website and purchased everything i needed. Now here is where it gets interesting problem 1)the window regulator is longer then the electric one so once it reaches the outside edges of the window track. It stops or jumps track... problem 2) the clutch that is supposed to engage the regulator is to short and once its completely install it doesn't work....any help or ideas are welcome

Re: 89 R100 Suburban...I need your Help

I have a 1973 sub and a 1976 and both of the motors still send the window up and down.
Now, the switches, wiring and other stuff might give you grief, but I don't think I'd give up and switch to a crank window yet.
My guess is the "window motor has failed" is incorrect.

Actually read through this: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=775471

Do you want to do some trouble-shooting on your existing window set up?

I'm very confident you can get yours to work properly.

I've never converted to a manual but I suggest posting pics and showing what is going on. Someone will chime in!

You probably saw this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecU9Frs1D7g

I love how everyone thinks they have a tv show!

There is only one version of the clutch that goes between tailgate handle and regulator. Same for both Blazer and Suburban.

Im quite sure I have some here in one of my junk boxes. I'll measure if you like.

And for those with later Subs and rear window issues, this is a good site:

* You said you got everything from LMC...regulator included?
I'm thinking you got a Blazer regulator in there. Sub regulators are shorter across than Blazer.

Yeah that's the video I saw and it doesn't add up the clutch is too short and it's not coming together. I'm still working on it and thanks for the link for the regulators
