92 2wd rear axle, what fits

hi folks i have a 92 chevy 1/2 t pick up, 2wd, 342 (41/12 ) gears 5 lug i have a vb knock in the ring & pinion what YEARS & MODELS rear ends will bolt in. i can swap a rear end cheaper than fix the gears. ty stay & safe

Any 88-up 1/2 ton 2wd. Older axles will work, but may not be same exact width, the spring/shock mounts will have to be moved, and prolly conversion ujoint.

I imagine they will interchange, but the 99 to 2002/2003 rear ends have disc brakes and are 6 lug. But that would mean changing out master and some things.

I would say your probably should look into any 88-98 1/2 for a direct bolt in..

You would have to re-weld spring perches. Its stupid easy to put 99+ disks on a 88-98 axle and keep the 5lugs so the axle swap is actually the harder choice work wise.

OP- junkyard axle time. Just went threw this. Much cheaper then re-gearing if your paying a shop to setup lash and what not. 88-98 2wd all work.
