Re: Your Truck Plans for 2012

Happy New Year y'all!

I actually run a k/5 so my first project this year is repairing the fiberglass top and bolting it back on. Also plan to build a custom toolbox for the bed right behind the seats, and a steel center console. Also playin with the idea of swapping out my TH350 for muncie 4spd...who knows, not a big fan of autos but i hate to fix what ain't broke. Either way, any year spent workin on a truck is a year well spent

Re: Your Truck Plans for 2012

Put in a filler panel between the grill and core support.
Switch over to black valve covers & air cleaner.
Re-do the spark plug wires so it looks a little cleaner.
If $$$ is still available ditch the tonneau cover and repaint the top of the bedcaps.

Re: Your Truck Plans for 2012

think i'm gonna sell my harley and find a 72 cheyenne shorty. used to have a long bed - but that 72 was far and away the nicest driving truck I've ever had (ok, nicest driving OLD truck I've ever had anyway). Can't justify (or afford) too many toys, so in order to keep my 66, the bike may need to go bye bye. Or not. Who knows. I need a bigger garage. But to do that I'd have to sell EVERYthing, thus defeating the purpose. It's a sickness. But lots of plans for the 66, but, yes, I know that's another forum....

Re: Your Truck Plans for 2012

Seeing I started this thread I should share my truck plans. I want to get my new rockers installed and get carpet put in and change out the seats. I have a set of 2003 Chevy power both sides integrated seat belt cloth buckets with console but am leaning toward finding a set of period correct (for our trucks ) buckets and console and installing them. I also have a complete Bruce Horkey white oak bed floor with polished stainless strips and bolts and a rear mounted ECE gas tank to install as well.

Keep adding little touches that make it special to me. Drive it more. If funds are available I may swap the Muncie 4spd out for a Keisler (Tremec) 5 speed. change the points to Petronix, etc, etc.

Re: Your Truck Plans for 2012

Changing mine from a 71-72 to a 67-68......ok, it's a 68 with a 67 cab with a 71-72 front clip so I'm changing the front clip to a 67-68...and get a paint job, new seat, that should do it...

Re: Your Truck Plans for 2012

My 2012 plans for my blue '70 stepside are to;
1) Fix up the front suspension, then drop the truck Front-3"/Back-4").
2) New exhaust system.
3) Get all of the lighting to work (brakelights, reverse lights, side markers, headlights adjusted etc.)
4) Install a wood bed floor.
5) Get new tires for the 17" rims sitting in my storage unit.

Plans for 2013.
1) PAINT!

Re: Your Truck Plans for 2012

1) Finish working my front clip swap / hammer and dolly on the small dings. Adjust with Evercoat Rage as needed, as little as possible.
2) Cut and re E-Prime (DP Epoxy) my hood and rear step fenders (as the weather allows)
3) Get all the clip in first stage primer (PPG) to first 220 block - Re Prime, x3 med coats.
4) Clean the dust off my frame and drop the BB and TH400 back between the frame rails
5) Put the front sheet metal back on and align as close as possible
6) Block the whole truck at 400 ..
work .. rub, sand ... get it laser straight, 500 block ..

Blow it back apart and PAINT !

I will probably paint it in pieces. Code 503, light green with a white grille section and top. I am using code 40 for the white, it is Speedway White from a 2001+ Corvette.

I can't wait for spring.

Looks like maybe a rebuilt or new engine for the 68. I just found out Friday evening that my 350 is shot.

Re: Your Truck Plans for 2012

*Finish repairing the seat frames and foam and install new seat covers.

*Finish installing new oil pan and timing cover seals.

*Clean and reseal the intake manifold

*Install new rear brake drums and shoes.

*Replace and/or repair damaged side trim.

Mostly I hope to be using my truck for a daily driver. I want to begin building a 350 from scratch this year but for my Vette, not the truck.

I'm really hoping to just get the '67 running, install 307/3 speed floor shift, 1980 front crossmember, rear 5 lug axle,'74 bucket seats and console, a few new bits and pieces here and there, not a full-on resto-mod as originally planned, just a beater/driver.Hopefully pictures to follow in the next few months.
