C6 ls2?

Hi,

I found a reasonably priced Corvette C6 engine I am considering for my 1959 Fleetside. I like the thought of a Corvette powered truck....

How have you resolved the rear mounted trans? Ia there a conversion kit to get the automatic trans mounted on the engine? Or do you go with the GTO combo?

Any other thoughs on the C6 LS2?

Regards,

Johan

Re: C6 ls2?

You would need a conventional transmission like a 4L65E or 4L80E from a passenger car or 2WD truck. You can't make the rear-mount Corvette setup work in your truck (in any practical manner, at least).

There's no reason it needs to be an electronic transmission though, it could be a TH400 or TH350 as well. Heck, you could stick a powerglide behind it!

Re: C6 ls2?

Thanks! So there is nothing different with the Corvette LS2? Meaning that a conventional gearbox bolt up without a conversion kit (to use engine without the torque box)?

Regards,

Johan

Re: C6 ls2?

no, all the LS2s are the same. They are also everywhere so don't get too worked up because it's a "corvette" engine. It's also a SSR, TBSS, CTSV , GTO engine. And probably more.
