Re: Gauge cluster questions - covered bulbs, oil

Are there relays used with the H4 upgrade?

Re: Gauge cluster questions - covered bulbs, oil

I used a relay harness for the H4 upgrade with halogen bulbs. The relay harness is set up to pull the power going to the headlights from the battery instead of the switch. It made it that much easier to add the LEDs since LEDs can flicker if the power supply fluctuates.

The harness I used costs less than $19 now and was plug and play. To keep this thread about dash lights I'll refer you to post #5 in the following Jeep headlight thread in the 69-72 Blazer section will provide you with details and the source of materials for the H4 conversion.

Re: Gauge cluster questions - covered bulbs, oil

I'm already running the relay harness so thats a plus. I'm ordering the LED dash bulbs today in the hope that they will dim better than the LEDs I have.

Re: Gauge cluster questions - covered bulbs, oil

These look great, I am doing some of this tomorrow. May as well do some touch up while its waiting on a gas tank.... Question, what color do you guys paint the gauge dials? and if orange (which I think is right) is it safety orange? was thinking reflective would be pretty awesome. Did you spray it? Cause I was thinking of going to the model section at hobby lobby and using model paint.

Found this video, orange florescent is the answer.
