Re: Poor old truck.

Get some vanilla, milk, and Eagle Brand and make some snow ice cream!!!! It's quite a treat down here in south Arkansas because we don't get snow but about every other year. When it does snow, I get out the big Jethro Bodine mixing bowl out and enjoy myself.

Re: Poor old truck.

It's been some years since we've made any. I remember when we were young kids our local radio would give the all clear to eat the snow. I don't know what that was all about. We didn't live near any nuclear testing sites.

Yeah, with fallout you didn't necessarily need to live all that close.

Yeah, I remember being told not to eat snow because of fallout. Eh, if snow was radioactive then so was rain and everything that got rained on or had water in it.

Re: Poor old truck.

Snow has a small static charge on it and collects whatever is in the air on the way down. Once enough snow has fallen, the air is "clean" and so is the snow.

Yuck. I'm not a fan of that white stuff!

My C10 has been parked outside for almost all of the 23 years I've owned it. Working on a huge shop for all my toys, it's about halfway-ish done.

But remember. The white stuff keeps the riff raff out. I dont have to worry about waking up and seeing a crocodile in my front lawn.

I like the snow, most people here don’t agree with me. Just sucks I can’t drive the 59 right now.

Coyotes, cougars, and bears. And once in a while a bear.

Sounds like a good trade. You can have the alligators snakes and spiders. I see your from Montana. So obviously we cant trade. But let's not try to pretend like those animals you mention are an actual concern. I would rather wake up to a bear in my front yard than a python crawling up my leg.

Re: Poor old truck.

Put it this way. If you get knocked off by a bear or a cougar, you basically didnt have a chance anyways. That's what survival of the fittest is all about. You were most likely not going to make it anyways. But snakes and spiders. That's a whole different story. They can even kill even people that know how to avoid predators and that actually have a brain. High difference.

Re: Poor old truck.

Imagine this. So how did he die? Well he was killed by a bear. Oh really? So did the bear kick down his front door and kill the poor bastard? No. He was just wondering around the woods unarmed and got mauled bigger than ****. Oh. So why was he doing that? Than crickets.

Re: Poor old truck.

The only crocodiles we have are in zoos. I've never heard of anyone dying from a snake or spider bite in this area.

Quote:
The chances of dying from a venomous snakebite in the United States is nearly zero, because we have available, high-quality medical care in the U.S. Fewer than one in 37,500 people are bitten by venomous snakes in the U.S. each year (7-8,000 bites per year), and only one in 50 million people will die from snakebite
Quote:
In the United States, an average of 6.6 people die from venomous spider bites each year1. Eight times as many dies from bee and wasp stings. Spiders use venom to kill their prey after they have captured it in their web or by other means.
About the same as the number of people that die from Bears.

We have a lot of coyotes.

You don't have to live in fear here, you're freezing your butt off for nothing

Closest I have come is a paranoid psycho-woman neighbor's 200 pound Russian "bear dog" that got loose. Me and Bill Ruger stopped it. I don't wander around the woods or anywhere else unarmed.

Actually there was a fellow died of rattlesnake bite in our county a few years ago. He was on the golf course about a mile from the hospital and he still died (truth is that most of us avoid that hospital!).

I live about 25 miles out of town.

The '47 has been sitting out buried in the snow. Waiting for spring to put a motor/trans in, then hopefully sell. If I took a picture you probably couldn't tell what it is.
Yup, poor thing.

Re: Poor old truck.

Well, somewhere buried in a pile of boxes I have a picture of my 58 boom truck buried in the snow.

It was parked for the winter by our trailer and we tied our wolf dog's chain to the bumper. By xmas the snow was so deep we had to move the dog chain anchor up to the tip of the boom that was folded down horizontal above the cab.

And you know … I could park those old trucks in the fall and let them sit for five or six months and start them right up in the spring.
