How rare are 2WD blazers where you are??

Just wondering how rare 2WD blazers are in other parts of the country?? Here in the north east, I can only rember seeing a few when they were fairly new. I haven't seen one in years here, and the 4WD ones are getting scarce due to rust. I loved my old 86 4x4 ( condemed due to rust ) and was thinking a lowered 2WD would be cool. I would probably have to have one shipped from the south.

I know of 3 2wd Blazers in Knoxville, TN.. If you go to a big show in the south you would see maybe 1 or 2 if you are lucky.

Since I picked mine up, I have seen two others, around Southeast Texas area. One complete custom and one in need of some TLC.

Including mine, I have seen two others on Craigslist here in the Washington/Oregon area within the last 3 months. None in the past two years before that.

I owned one back in the early 90s and it is still running around. You see couple cruising around Az from time to time.

Re: How rare are 2WD blazers where you are??

They are a little more plentiful than the '70-'72 models. But production stopped in '82. I would love to have a '73-'75 2wd model with the full removeable top. Check with "bagged74". He has a sweet '90 model (on a 2wd frame) in the '73-'87 trucks for sale section. EDIT: I went there to find a link,... and I don't see it now. Maybe it's sold.

Re: How rare are 2WD blazers where you are??

I couldn't agree with you more, since they are so hard to get around here, once I found both a 77 2wd and a 75 4x4 I grabbed onto them. I am going to swap tubs on them and have some fun. Once I get started (in late Jan), I will create a build thread to monitor progress.
Here is a shot of them looking just how I found them.

I've seen maybe 5 come up for sale in the last year between Dallas and Oklahoma City (craigslist and auto trader only)

could you convert one to 2WD by swaping in a crossmember from a 2WD pickup , or the frames different??

Re: How rare are 2WD blazers where you are??

We have about 5 that run around the town and I have seen several more in the surrounding area from time to time. I still have phone numbers floating around of some for sale....I think there are currently 2 or 3 on seattle/portland craigslist combined.

cartman the frames are almost the same. you have to drill holes for the front crossmember mounting. see http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=168231 from sixty8c10
he did a full 4wheel to 2wheel swap

...and vice-versa too if I remember right? Doing one would be a lot of work (almost too much?) but to do two at the same time is beyond me!

Re: How rare are 2WD blazers where you are??

In wisconsin, I have maybe only seen 1 or 2 in my life. 4x4s are everywhere, but most are rusty, lifted, have a plow, or are mud trucks.
