No, just a standard double carport.

I like putting my truck to work. Towed 4000lbs of concrete home to make my driveway a little wider for the carport.

Now that's what a C20 is meant to do.

Heck yeah, I know I would be very excited to get a double car port so I can imagine that you are seriously motivated to get it done.
I know nothing about concrete, it took 4k pounds of concrete to fill that 2'x30' strip?

The driveway is 39' long, so I got a yard which covers 80sq-ft. Not much left over.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

I had some time today to dig into the original block that came with the truck. The engine sat outside under a tarp for a year, so I'm happy it still turns over easily by hand. Pulled the heads off and only found scuffs in cylinders 1 and 7, and not too bad. It's never been machined, so I think it would be a good candidate for rebuilding.

Carport is up! Now my truck has a safe place to live protected from the sun and rain.

Nice!
It looks roomy and your truck looks right at home under there.

Late to the party. but good to see a c20 build thread. Looks like a good solid truck.
How did you go with a/c charge? I just got mine converted to 134a and it seems cool, but haven't had any hot weather to really test it yet.

Anyway love your work.

Thanks guys.

I've been having a little trouble with the AC. The belt slips when I'm on the freeway and running the AC. I need to replace it and try to get the new one tighter.

Before you replace the belt check the pulley alignment and make sure it isn't off kilter.

I just ordered all the bolts that are needed to replace my damaged passenger bedside from MAR-K. Great customer service and very helpful - I would recommend them to anyone needing bed parts.

I'm dropping my truck off tomorrow for bedside surgery. Can't wait to get it back as a straight truck!

Progress is slow at the body shop, but it's progress. I will keep showing up to take pictures, and to remind him that I have cash for him when it's done.

From the standpoint of reading your thread that looks like good progress, I'd be really excited too.

Yeah it's amazing how slow body shops can be on custom work, their bread and butter is insurance work which makes any custom work a low priority.
What are you doing about the tool storage door?

It's getting fixed using the door and box off the '70 Custom Camper that I sold. It's also costing an arm and a leg to restore, but it will be a nice rare option to have.

It's starting to look like a truck again!

Still needs some work to fix the toolbox door. He pulled the skin off to straighten it up, patch a rusty spot, and seal up the inside.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

Well I got my truck back. Unfortunately, that's the end of the good news.

The bad news is the guy did a very sloppy, unfinished job, and also managed to destroy my irreplaceable blue/yellow license plate by dropping the bed on it. I told him I wanted it perfect and ready to paint, but what I got is very disappointing for what I paid.

- He didn't finish sand anything. Rough sanding marks, gouges, and squared-off corners.
- There are bumps, smudges, and fingerprints in the primer.
- A big black sealant paint drip running up from the bottom.
- Extra bondo is hanging off the edges.
- Edges of toolbox door are wavy.
- Toolbox door doesn't fit straight with body.
- Didn't replace toolbox door weatherstripping as promised.
- Huge rusty holes and smashed up bends in the license plate.
